Glad to see so many loving the game. Was iffy at the start as to whether people would give it a try and see.
Can't wait to get my home chores done and start it up again!!

Played the demo last night, can't say I'm not interested. Never really played a game like this before... or for a long time. Last one might have been:

        re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown

It's crazy how a few lucky shots can make a mission. I was battered and bruised after the last UFO crash site mission, as I concentrated so hard on capturing a live outsider. I got him, but it cost me two operatives, and three more soldiers were gravely wounded. So of course, a very difficult terror mission pops up before everyone is healed. I wind up sending in two of my higher ranked soldiers, along with 4 rookies. I wound up losing nobody, rescuing 14 civilians, and killing 10 chrysalids and 4 zombies. This was all thanks to some impeccable aim from my rookies (basically, a few crazy lucky shots).

This was a HUGE victory, as I now have a number of guys leveled up. I have two max rank soldiers (one sniper and one support), and a number of higher ranked soldiers to boot.

How is this game for consoles? I'm usually a PC guy when it comes to these type of strategy games, but don't feel like trying to run it on my Mac

Great on consoles. I'm playing on PS3. From everything i've read, the console versions are just as good as the PC version (well, minus the eventual mod support).

Just get it man. Trust me.

                X-Com sentient program activated.

Prepare to get your *** handed to you on your next basic mission.

Seriously, I've lost all my legit leaders. My last was a major, who was an assault, but he just couldn't hold out from a landed UFO.

So far I've only been truly defeated on one mission, though.

This guy got it on Tuesday,it was early Thursday when he made that video...played for 18 hours. He's playing it on the hardcore mode where you don't get to reload your save if you mess up. A good video for anyone intrested, especially as you can dismiss most of his complaints if you haven't played the original.

it was easy to miss as a PC title, there were lots of big games around that time, but it was practically a launch title on the original Playstation, came in one of those extra large boxes (has anyone ever figured out why the PS1 games came in those things for the first year or so ?) This is how I started to play X-Com:UFO Defense was on PS1.

Tried the demo, thought it was boring.

Tried the demo again, realized I tried it in the wrong frame of mind, loved it.

Picked it up last night. Got the DLC pack Elite Soliders in the box too.

Won't open it to really play until Extra-Life next week where I may end up playing most of my session. LOL

                            Kind of excited.

But in the end..damn this thread!!

I would have never heard of it or gotten it had it not been for this thread. Was completely off my radar.

Same, it is how I became interested and so much so that I too am onboard with my copy on 360. It is the type of game that has not been around for ages on consoles and especially being turn based and strategy and not rpg means it has no competition.
