I would say yes. I know the enemies get tougher as you go depending on, as someone mentioned earlier, your tech tree most likely. I think others have mentioned this also, but I know you get less money from nations when doing normal compared to easy. I imagine the same is for classic compared to normal.

I find it's a fine line on difficulty, because on normal even one single mistake can wipe your whole team...can be pretty brutal depending on the situation....

"Bumping it up" = totally different game. Just to warn you. Normal is a good, fair challenge.

i was starting to feel that way too...just lost 3, including a COL sniper

classic was infuriatingly tough. every other mission seemed to be a total party kill.

Yeah, you'll all be happy to know i hit the wall on Normal. ALl of a sudden, crews were hitting me simultaneously, with different types of attacks before i could react. I lost about 4 of my elite soldiers, including an assault colonel who was just killing it for me. He was in full cover, then a grenade wiped it away, followed by a critical shot to the head. Unbelievable. Very fun though

Did you have any other guys around your assault colonel when the grenade was thrown? I've noticed that on easy enemies toss grenades if you have multiple soldiers around a small area. I'm curious to know if they will toss grenades at just one guy while playing on a higher difficulty.

There were two people there. It really surprised me, because I had a guy who was way more out in the open than either of them, who were in full cover by a doorway. The guy who threw the grenade was on his last point of life, having survived two misses that would have sealed the deal. Next thing I know, the door and wall are gone, and colonel is at half life. Then, a well placed head-shot from his buddy sends him to the ground. I couldn't believe it.

He was the third character I lost in 3 missions, who had been one of my very early recruits. The other two were lost when I had two vets get taken over by a SC at the same time one of those disc guys rolled in (first time I'd see them attack). I'm actually glad it got more challenging, but damn, heavy heavy hits. I went from having too many elites to choose from, to having only 3 non-rooks.

                            This game is awesome!

Lost one country, but getting more satellites up and hopefully improving there.

I can do the Alien base mission now, is there a good time to go there? Should I have anything specific done by that point, or no? I've got laser weapons, carapace armor, so I think I may be good to give it a shot. Just need to get a solid squad running, my vets are a little hurting after a wipe

Gotcha...I may wait a while then. There's no danger in waiting too long, aside from enemies getting a little better?
