A city only gets abandoned when you click "abandon" on the region screen. If you do not choose to abandon it, the city remains indefinitely, even if you never play it.

Also, I sent you a friend request. Once you accept I can invite you, or you can just click on my name in-game and Springfield will show up as a region I'm playing.

When you in region view, you click on the power button and it will ask you from what city you want to buy it.

Also, when you click on the power icon in city view, it will tell you how much is available in the region. If you click on the icon next to that number, you'll be taken to a screen where you can buy from the region.

Also, in case anyone missed this, the two abandoned cities had progress made in them, so I went in, raised $50,000 (the default amount you start with) and then bulldozed everything, so you don't need to shy away from claiming one of the abandoned cities, as playing in it will just be like starting from scratch.

bcruise, I'm really digging those circular roads you have in Shelbyville. I wish I had done that.

Some of my sims are complaining that they are no longer educated and miss the schools they attended before they moved into my city. Well, that's what you get for moving into a city with no schools. As mayor, I have absolutely no sympathy. Why can't you gripe about garbage like the rest of my constituents?

Man someone in Springfield is sending all kinds of criminals into my city! I just had a arsonist show up from Benington and burn half my city down.

Dang, I just got another one from Washtub Falls.

Add Capitol City to the list of cities that have sent their arsonist to Durant!

I grew my city way too fast lol. Almost to 150k population and think I'm going to demolish half of it. I can't keep up with the demands lol.

yeah, that is why I've kept my population to around 90K, and limited the high-density places to only a few places. I have plenty of money to support a large population, but don't have much room to expand services as my oil industry is taking up so much space.

Once the Oil wells dry up, I'll have to redesign the city a bit and I'll probably shift over to making processors and other tech stuff.

I keep getting messages about not enough skilled workers, but I have every student enrolled, a community college that never gets full, education level is about 4 1/2 marks(out of 5), and the map filter for education show pretty much every residential household as educated. only thing I don't have is an university. but that shouldn't be needed for tech level 1 and 2 industries.

Thanks, just wanted to try something different. I probably won't get many skyscrapers with a layout like that, but I think I can at least get up to where the majority of my city is mid-wealth over time. I'm also a lot more fiscally sound this time, actually reading what my capacity on schools, clinics, and other services are and only building additions when I really need them instead of when the game prompts me to.

Rush hour is still giving me gridlock so I'm trying to figure out how to cut it down without just throwing down high density roads everywhere and having the buildings grow too fast. Really using the bus system a lot more and it seems to be working better.

Oh....and I also had a UFO attack (Kang and Kodos? ). Fortunately it only cleared one of my factories and did little else.

Did you get the 90k with mostly medium density? Going medium density is my next step, but traffic problems may force me to upgrade to high density sooner.

On the education front, even with a CC or University, your tech level will only rise as your sims attend. So if you have low attendance, the tech level will remain low. I wish the map filter actually told you what level of education each sim was, but unfortunately all "educated" means is that the sims are either enrolled in, or have graduated from school, so a sim in kindergarten would be labeled as "educated."

Streetcars seem to really help with traffic, but that of course requires high density avenues. As I'm still low density, I plan on experimenting with park and rides, as that would help give tourists a place to park.

I'm also buying power from you (hopefully until I can educate my sims and buy a nuclear plant), but if you need to cold-heartedly cut me off in the near future, I fortunately have the excess funds to buy a plant. I have enough to start an arcology, but I'm going to hold off as none of us are currently producing any of the needed materials, and constructing a great work will probably take a concerted group effort.

How's your police force? Criminals get chased from cities with a great police force to those without one. Criminals can also level up, so your arson problems might get worse. My current problem is disasters. I've had a tornado, earthquake, and fire-breathing trash lizard attack. Fortunately Kang and Kodos have avoided my city. It must be those darn Shelbyville kids. They have a disciplinary problem. It's why we beat them at football nearly half the time.

yeah, mostly medium density. I have a couple of high density avenues, but I try to zone in a way that only the medium density side streets are effecting most areas. so it looks like they are building on the avenue, but are facing the medium density road instead.

traffic is an issue during rush hours. I have buses, but no street cars. I'm trying to stay away from street car avenues for now as when you do, any crossing with a medium density road will make a street light, where as a normal high density avenue will not make a street light at medium density street intersections. trying to keep the avenues moving as much as possible without street lights.
