If you haven't played the first game, I would definatly pull the trigger. Even the console version is still a fun game. . Not as good graphically as the PC version obviously, but gameplay is still pretty much intact, with the exception of one level that wasn't well liked anyways by PC players.Word of warning though, the last 1/3 of the game get's very linear/corridor like. Crysis 1 and 3 for $40 is great deal.

Also here is the direct quote from the Crysis dev about the game's length

"We have had the single player test by some people. Every person has the potential of Nanosuit played slightly differently. The average time is about 7 to 8 hours. Do you play a little more cautious, and more disguised, of course you need even longer than 8 hours"

So yeah I wish it was longer, but I will take quality over quantity if turns out to be really good. Crysis 2 did have some parts that seemed like filler, fat if you will, that could have trimmed. That is the thing with non-open world shooters, it is hard to create long campaigns, without resorting to adding filler. I will easily play through this 2-3 times, if it doesn't have uninteresting filler.

Here is a couple of minutes console footage for anybody interested, will probally be taken down in short order though, so check it out while you can:

Looks alot better than the beta from a graphical standpoint, which is not surprising. Area looks pretty open as well. The guy playing is playing it like COD though, barely using the suit. That definatly is not on Supersoldier.

      Re: Crysis 3

More console footage, the fields gameplay that we saw in the PC videos starts about 10 minutes in.

Looks pretty incrediable given the hardware. Frame rate looks solid too. Given how the console version looks it makes me wonder how jawdropping the PC version will be. I am going to go out on a limb, and say that Crytek's claim that this will be the best looking console game will turn out to be true, at least in SP.

Edit: Unfortunately, both videos have been taken down or are now private. They did look incrediable for console footage though. I assume EA is forcing people to take them down, but they would be better off not doing so with how the footage looks. Basically free advertising for people unsure about how the console versions would turn out.

        Re: Crysis 3

Hmmm, I was watching a stream of somebody playing later in the game and it looks like the last part of the game gets somewhat constrained and corridor like, with some on the rail type sequences. Not sure what is with Crytek and making the last part of their games more constrained and corridor like, than the rest of the game. It happened in both Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 as well.

Wavering a little bit on my preorder at this point, I mean graphically the game looks amazing, but I am really counting on the replayability aspect. Think I will wait for the reviews.

I plan on picking it up in the morning, unless the reviews turn out to be mediocre. The game has three reviews up on Metacritic at the moment, all for the PC version, a 90, an 85 and an 80. As long as the metacritic score is at least 80 for the Xbox version I will picking it up. The length of SP does have me a bit concerned, like I said hopefully the game is more open than Crysis 2, and can be replayed at least a couple different times.

I'll be picking up the PS3 version of the game in the afternoon. I never did play the first crysis so it's a bonus for me to have it included. I enjoyed the mp beta so I think it's a good overall package. Will keep me busy for awhile.

Boy crytex wasn't kidding when they said crysis 3 would melt your pc. On high settings I was getting 20fps. Medium I'm getting a solid 55-65 range. Even on medium settings game is beyond beautiful though.

Was glad to find out that some great mp modes from Crysis 2 are back!

From what I have played I am enjoying this more than Crysis 2. Game started a little slow and was too corridor like intially, but has picked up since the levels have gotten more open. The bow might be a little OP, though, but it so fun to use. Honestly from I have played I really don't know why the Metacritic score for Crysis 2 is seven points higher than this, seems like the superior game so far. Also I am trying to get why the story is being criticized so severly. I mean sure it's not good, but it is no worse than most games. I mean let's be honest a game with a good story, is the exception.

Playing on Supersoldier and the game is providing a nice challenge. Had to get used to aiming the bow without the crosshairs, though.

Yeah and I find his primary complaint could also be applied to all three games in the series. He basically said the last 1/3 of third game isn't as good, even if is true that is nothing new for the series. Both Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 weren't nearly as good in the latter 1/3 either. So basically this game is getting docked heavily for something that first two didn't get heavily docked for. From what I have played so far there is no aspect that was better in Crysis 2. Other than length I don't see what would warrant Crysis 2 getting signficantly higher scores since the MP wasn't better either.

Also I don't see how saying the game doesn't take place all during the day is a valid complaint. The game isn't telling the story over the course of one afternoon, so why wouldn't there be day and night portions? If you can't see the enemy, that is what nanovision is for.
