    Re: Cyberpunk 2077

I ultimately decided to wait because I think I'm going to get the game on PC. Being able to mod games just has a weird appeal.

        Shocking! Who would have thought?

Pretty much every news about this game is a let down.

By the summer when this comes I think most people will have just moved on from this game. I don’t see it being able to get back the buzz that’s 1 year and a Half after the next gen systems came out

If the next gen patch is highly successful it could be another No Mans Sky story.

I am rooting for this game. I was one who got a full refund but I want to come back and realize the potential this game could have with a successful next gen update.

            Time will tell…..

I played on PS5. The biggest issue was the desync problem and it was a pretty big one. Other than that, I can't really complain. I thought the game was incredible and I loved Night City. I'm definitely looking forward to another playthrough on the next gen version, but I want them to take their time and get it right. Personally, The Witcher 3 upgrade being delayed hurts worse.

I managed to grab it for 10 bucks at Best Buy a couple months back and got a steel book with it. I've already waited 10 years for the game, I can hold out a little longer for the next gen upgrade before diving in.

I'm starting to wonder if waiting will be worth it? I started the game and played a bit (4-6 hours or so) and I'm not sure what they can do really...

If overall the improvement will be minor than maybe I'll just play through in the near future as by the time we're rolling into 2022 other stuff will emerge and my interest (which has already faded a bit) will only decrease.

No man's sky I can't even boot up as I was interested so long ago and largely have moved on since the original disappointement.

This is a perfect example as to why these games shouldn’t be rushed. This game could’ve waited another year and actually make even more money. This is what happens when corporate greed dictates decisions.

I'm not sure if it is entirely greed and wasn't mostly incompetence and a lack of understanding. I don't believe those that made the decision to launch as planned truly understood how bad of shape the game was in.

Yea I hear you but clearly the game wasn’t ready for consoles. They should’ve waited another year just to avoid this circus.

I’m pretty sure it was reported that they scraped most of what they had worked on sometime in 2016. Who knows what that actually means, as I’m sure almost everyone at CDPR was going full tilt on Witcher 3. And given how robust the Witcher DLC was, it makes sense that once they got set up with the full work force in 2016, there was a major course correction.

If that’s the case, they gave themselves more or less 5 years to develop a new game while also building a new complex engine as they went.

It’s clear now that the constant corner cutting and adjustment of scope led to a very different product than what they probably had in mind throughout most of the development. I think if they had held true to what they originally had planned for this game it wouldn’t be out until next year. Add on the cluster **** of trying to optimize their duck taped together mess of an engine for last gen, and well… here we are.

It’s telling that they said recently they plan to completely rebuild major aspects of the engine and other systems in the game going forward. They were so broken that they aren’t even worthy of repair in their eyes.

People would still complain about the promised features that are missing. The game would have been in a better state, so maybe there would not have been the console backlash. But at the end of the day, people will still compare Night City to San Andreas, and Night City loses on almost every category.

People will always look for something to complain about, but at least the game would’ve be polished and ready. Their reputation took a hit with the release of this game in the state it came out.
