I only ever use a gun if I need to take somebody out and can't get to them - silenced 1911 and the high-end sniper rifle are the only guns I've ever really used in the game.

With that said, the combat itself is just kind of meh and not very confrontational. The hacking upgrades are fun, but I barely use them outside of the a random blackout. All car chases essentially just end up waiting until the car/NPC you need to take down goes across a steam pipe or goes into a busy intersection. I've been driving using the cockpit view which has almost made the driving too easy now.

I'm not sure what they can do, but driving outside of joy-riding its pretty much a snooze-fest to me. I love being chased from the cops, but even then once you figure out to just set a point and follow the path that the cops aren't really that hard to lose.

Its like the surface of the game is fun, but then you realize there's no depth.
Totally agree. About halfway through I was sick of all the car chases, as that's what nearly every level and all side missions boil down to. Being lazy, I pretty much started going to the water every time. Police can't handle the water.

It wasn't as bad as one of the bugs someone posted where you step onto a boat and the police literally can't see you anymore, but once you were on a boat you could get away easily pretty much every single time. Only time boat didn't work was when I encountered a game bug that wouldn't allow the police threat level to go down at all. Had to restart the game each time that happened. Thankfully it only happened a couple of times.

One of the final missions I tried a boat escape for the first time and it was comical how easy it was. They instantly lose you since there are no police boats.

As for the guns I stuck with the starting assault rifle for most of the game. Its way too easy to just focus mode and headshot everyone with 1 tap. Towards the end I started using the auto shotgun that the enforcers drop. Couple of cases where I'd here them say " Your bullets can't hurt my armor! " or something along that, then I'd focus mode and fire off 2 full auto shotty clips into there face and watch them go down Always satisfying killing those guys just to hear their modulated screams.

Just traded it in at gamestop. I used some of my powerup reward points to get a extra trade in code on top of that 40 bucks and I got 72.50 or something for it. Lol. Payed off Destiny and preordered Masterchief Collection and Dragon Age 3.

Nice! I traded in yesterday too and got $42.50 or whatever. out of curiosity what is the extra trade in code? I usually wait til 10,000 pts and get the $10 bucks off.

On topic, I just had no desire to finish the story. Fun game for a bit but fit the "$20 rental" if you will, couldn't find the replay value.

Well I traded it towards destiny which gave me extra credit to begin with then the code I used was one of those 30% extra trade in value ones or something like that. that combined got me so high.

Combat was probably my favorite part though. Decided to take the stealth approach to most missions. Hacking what I could and only resorting to guns as a last resort, so that kept the game fresh. The tailing/follow missions and insta-fail stealth missions are still a pain in the *** though. I'm also terrible at the "Morpheus" missions, with trying to lead people over the phone. Had to intervene on each one of those.

Towards the end of Act 2 I just focused on the story and stopped doing all side missions. I think I've only done 1 gang hideout, 2 convoys, and 3 fixer contracts, with probably a dozen or so crimes stopped. I had enough fun blowing up cars chasing me with steam pipes during the campaign, so I felt like doing those extra missions would make the game feel stale. I probably won't go back to finish them. Might go back to finish up the Missing Persons and Human Trafficking cases, but from what I heard the missions you unlock is pretty bad.

Overall a solid, but not great open world game. Liked the combat better than GTA or Sleeping Dogs, because of the hacking elements, but the story is missing the interesting side stories that other games like GTA give you. There really is no meaningful narrative reasons to play anything besides the campaign, unless you count the Missing Persons and Trafficking quests, but those are literally just listen to audio logs that culminate in disappointing missions. Would have been better had they included a side quest line with DeadSec. I feel like they weren't really developed at all as a "Watch Dog" organization. Just randomly sprinkled throughout the story.

See I usually keep my mouth shut about these negative conversations, but I am going to speak out now.

As I said in my last post the console versions of this game got the shaft, I have it on PC and all these comments are 200% irrelevant. All the way down to the side missions with Deadsec, because guess what? There are tons of missions for Deadsec all over the PC map, with season pass.

Also the guy that you kill in the E3 demo, you have his 11 missions that lead up too his death and numerous other missions after the main campaign.

It really sickens me to hear so many negative things said about this game, when I'm 100% enjoying it.

You guys rushed through the campaign and just gave up! Season Pass adds a lot more depth and missions...Too bad you guys are missing out. Again the DNA wheel is also larger on PC, I feel like the console versions, they just give you everything up front and don't allow you to earn anything.

Different people enjoy different things. Nothing wrong with enjoying a game that others don't (I've definitely enjoyed my fair share of games others didn't) or vice versa, not enjoying something someone else does. That's just human nature. We're not all the same. Glad you enjoyed it, but the game didn't look as visually stunning on console as I thought it would from videos on my PC, the gameplay felt extremely repetitive, and the story was extremely thin with few characters and little depth. Just not my type of game on any level.

I got up to 86% completion and played through ALL of the side missions. That's what made the game feel so repetitive to me. Doing something 40+ times for one spoke in that wheel, and then having several of the spokes basically be the same thing with a slight twist made it too repetitive.

I don't get your comments about not having to earn things on the console version. Many of the quests and quests types weren't available until the 2nd or 3rd act. Looking for the crates for example, or tracking down the guys from the auction. What exactly was available right away on console versus PC?

I think it's funny when people say Watch Dogs gets repetitive. Every game gets repetitive after a certain length. Also, it seems that when someone comes along and criticizes the game, most people will agree, even if they previously said good things about it.

Right, but repetition is forgiven when the gameplay is good or compelling. Most of the Fixer Contracts aren't fun after the first batch outside of Decoy and Gang Hideouts. Not to mention how most of the map is basically a big bag of item searches.

Its not a terrible game and I want to finish the whole thing, but the game just isn't as compelling as some other open-world/urban sandbox games.

If you don't do the side missions, you miss out on supplements to the story through the audio logs you get as you go along.

Right. I'll probably grind them all out next week.

So I decided to go back in last night after beating it, just to finish up the Missing Persons quest line since I only had 2 left to find.

That ending mission you get after finding all the bodies is just terrible. Have no desire to finish up the other find items quest lines if that's the payoff for the Missing Persons one, which seems like it would have the best resolution if made correctly.

Yeah, that one was disappointing. The mission after you get the weapons crates is good though. That's one's worth going for.
