    Re: Watch Dogs

Still in Act 2, but roughly 60% of the way through now. Game is fun for what it is, a good way to kill 30 minutes to an hour, but not a game with any WOW moments (at least thus far) and not something that can keep your attention for a full day of gaming.

Someone awhile back was saying all the side missions are available on console at the start where as on the PC they had to be unlocked. This isn't exactly the case. Many of them are available, but then the last two to three aren't there until the story progresses, and then there's some side quests that aren't there at all like tracking down the brief cases, which opened up after a story segment in Act 2.

      Re: Watch Dogs

I agree with the last few posts.

      My Timeline with Watch Dogs:

First 2 Weeks - Could not get enough of it. Barely touched the main story because I was so intrigued with the city. Did a ton of side missions and eventually about halfway through Act 1.

Next 2 Weeks - Side missions finally began to wear thin with me so I decided to focus on main missions. Somewhat interested in story but not so much that I play non stop.

Last 3-4 Days - Ugh...Act 2 is sooooooo long. I am on mission 10 or 11. Looked in the menu and noticed that Act 2 is 15 missions in itself, and I have three more acts to go through (although Act 5 is only 1 mission I believe). Now I am trying to convince myself to finish it out because I have got this far, but it's a struggle. I am starting to get the same feeling I got from playing Assassins's Creed. The repetition is killing me.

I still enjoy using creative ways to take out gangs and the occasional hack into CIOS to see vids from their surveillance, but that's about it. Can someone who has beat the game or is close tell me if the storyline gets any better?

Act 2 is the longest and slowest part of the story IMO. It all picks up after Act 4

Was so tempted when you and pito were playing in free roam, glad I didn't pick it up. It's novelty would have worn off on me after about 2 weeks tops.

I'm still enjoying the game. It's good for killing 45 minutes. At around 30% completion and I'm not even out of act 1 yet. Agree with what everyone is saying about it becoming kinda blah after awhile. With no other new releases that interest me on the horizon, I plan to stick it out though. I don't game as much during the summer so this and The Show should hold me over.

Patch rolling out across all platforms, out on PS4 now:

                      http://kotaku.com/watch-dogs-patch-p...ngs-1592839735

I know they only said "minor respawn issues" on multiplayer, but I wonder if they changed the way you appear visible to a potential "victim" once you invade their game. I'm not asking for them to take out focus or anything dramatic like that to remove the tip-offs, but I would like the minimap to not show the general area a player is invading from.

                          Re: Watch Dogs

One thing I will say about this game is that even on Default setting (if there are difficulty settings, haven't actually checked) the game is pretty darn challenging and mostly for 'good' reasons. I've had to play more than a dozen of the side missions one to three times.

There are a few glaring issues I wished they'd have fixed that introduce unnecessary frustration. Attempting to take out someone as they exit a vehicle will typically result in you climbing the vehicle instead and then being shot dead, versus taking out the bad guy with a take down. This is due to both actions being mapped to the same button (Circle on PS4). Most times, to play it safe, you have to let the guy shoot you once, which is a bet in and of itself as there are one shot one kill moments. Better programming could have made that a non-issue.

Had other moments when I tried to run away, but there was something very small, like a barrel or something below my feet and my character just ran in place. Even hitting Circle to climb over wouldn't work. This resulted in my char being shot/killed, all because he couldn't navigate a 12 inch barrier.

In Act V now, and roughly 75% progression.

Finished the story last night, also finished all the side missions, etc. Dont play online, skipped all the mini games and hate the qr codes. Enjoyed the game overall. 9/10 imo. For comparison, i would rate gta v and sleeping dogs also a 9/10. Definitely looking forward to the sequel which i think will improve the franchise in the same way that assassin's creed 2 did for that respective franchise.

I may finish it next year at the pace I'm going.

I've been up and down on the game. I've had some fun hacking online and the main story is interesting, but it's a bit of a grind to get through.

I think GTA 5's story and characters are infinitely better. I also found San Andreas to be a more interesting map, thus far, but I think WD has slightly better gameplay.

Sleeping Dogs is still the top dog for comparison, though.

With that said I'm about 1/3 of the way through Act II and the story is starting to pick up a little bit. I've also been trying out some of the mini games and things. Those find-the-ball guys are tough on the higher levels.
