Re: Dragon Age III: Inquisition
...Ok...
It was between FC4 & starting up this game....I pondered which one to start & after 2 days of going back & forth I have decided to start it up my 'sesh' tonight...
Should I just tell my social life, "See ya later?"
I feel like this game is going to to chokehold me for quite some time....
...installing as we speak...
...ok, now installed....
...ok, here we go!#DragonAgeInquisition

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Ok...
This game is just HUGE....one of those games that may take me forever to get everything...
I keep on exploring and it's taking me away from everything I really should be doing...but I love that!
Tonight, leveled up to 3, tried going to the Hinderlands for a quest....umm, yea, not leveled up enough to be there...had to leave....haha, love it.
Have to sleep, don't want to sleep, but HAVE to....Currently playing on PS5 & XBOX SERIES X:

Re: Dragon Age III: Inquisition
thanks for the tip Pokes but I still don't know how to cast dispel/spell. Gonna snag my guide and try to figure it out. I should have mentioned I'm fairly new to these types of games and seriesThe poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Dragon Age III: Inquisition
Okay, I need some advice. This is going to be my first Dragon Age game and I am extremely excited, but I can't decide which class to be. In most games I go archer/rogue and enjoy it, but I think the Mage looks cool too. I have heard that the Mage can be too easy and repetitive though.
I trust you guys at OS more than elsewhere, so I need your advice. For you people who have chosen one of those classes, what do you think I should do or how has your playthough been?T-Wolves for Life

Re: Dragon Age III: Inquisition
Guys nightmare mode is driving me insane. The first damn mission in hinterlands dominated me. THose damn Templars with the shield. So much HP...so much damage. And I have so little of both.Comment

Re: Dragon Age III: Inquisition
Nightmare mode has three separate difficulty brackets IMO, and that's early game, mid-game, and then late game. This also includes the fillers in between, such as early-mid, and mid-late. Early game you want to capitalize your focus in this order; survivability, control, damage.
In early game you're mostly going to only have tier 1 schematics/mats. So you're going to need to make an effort to getting the abilities on your chars to give them the most amount of survivability. On your warriors you want abilities that build and maximize guard, your mages need auto-barrier and fade step, and you want your rogues to get evade.
For control you're going to want CC abilities, early on you get frozen, fear, and sleep. These abilities will buy you some time if things are attacking you to reposition your party, or help maximize the flow of battle.
Damage is self explanatory, however, if you're dead you're not doing any.
Mid-game is more or less the same, but by then you should have access to tier 2 schematics/mats that will see your party being able to take more on with less risk(And save more potions too). By then you should change your focus to survivability, damage, control. If your party is geared properly you shouldn't have as hard a time in staying alive against enemies, and you should also be able to dispatch them a lot quicker. There is also two areas you can get to after you reach Skyhold, Exalted Plains and Crestwood that each offer tier 3 mats (metal, leather) that will make your tier 2 gear even better.
By end game you want damage, survivability, control. At this point most encounters outside of boss fights, or skirmishes with elites should really only last a few seconds. You should be in mostly tier 3 gear with tier 3/4 mats at this point. As well as have masterwork/runed gear.
Nightmare is hardest mostly at the beginning of the game when you don't have much to work with. So to mitigate you mostly have to make a lot of use of tactical gameplay. You don't need to use the tactical camera 100% of the time. But you are going to want to enter tactical mode about every 10-15-20 seconds as needed to get an overlay/sitrep. You'll also want to make full use of the command wheel and focus down targets at a time.
You'll also want to set your starting tactics like this; have Cassandra set to defend herself, and set Solas & Varric to follow each other. Meaning set Solas' follow behavior to follow Varric, and set Varric's follow behavior to follow Solas. That way they will mostly stay at range and avoid getting into the middle of a fight. You'll also want to 1) Disable caltrops on Varric, so he doesn't run into melee range of enemies and get killed. 2) Disable Winter's Grasp on Solas. WG is not a DPS skill, it is used as a means of crowd control, therefore you want to have as much control over it as possible.
You'll want to also set Shield Wall as a preferred skill on Cassandra, and mostly spec her passives out early to grand stamina regen. You'll need to learn the art of LoSing enemies with Cassandra, and using taunt/war cry on enemies you want your party to be engaging.
The biggest thing on Nightmare is throwing out everything you learned if you started playing on Casual/Normal, since none of those tactics will work. It also will force you to learn the game mechanics or you'll find yourself wiping a lot.
Lastly, do not neglect crafting. Crafting>leveling. Having good crafted gear for your level is miles better than actually grinding levels. With decent gear it is possible to do story quests/side zones at levels below the recommended level.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions
