Re: The Witcher 3
There are also a number of videos and guides solely devoted to getting you caught up on Witcher's universe. A couple were linked way earlier in this thread, I think kotaku posted a nice beginners guide. If I find the link I'll post it for you.

And I haven't even set foot in Skellige yet. I'm probably 60-70 hours in and I can't believe the tremendous quality of this game. I can't stop thinking about it. And the fact that this Dev team cares so much about its fanbase is like icing to the world's greatest cake.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I don't know what you guys think, but I feel that the devs could make this game last a long long time with some smart handling of their expansions.
If they added an adventure mode with bounty quests, like Diablo 3, and basically opened up character development (manually increasing attack power, crit chance, stamina, etc) and added loot, I think that would be awesome. Or like a Chalice Dungeon system from Bloodborne, that kind of thing would be great too. I was told there is no level cap in the game. Not sure which report is true (the lvl 70 report, or the no cap report) but I feel like they could make this game pretty much last forever if they wanted to
ANyway, bout to log in for first time today and start working on some Velen stuff. Just hit lvl 10, hope to catch up to my PS4 playthrough within a few days"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

(My little cousins husband was killed in a motorcycle accident. Soapbox: If anyone has dependents and still rides, please rethink your priorities.)

Re: The Witcher 3
I want to sail to Skellige, but there's things popping up in Novigrad and I still have a couple areas I haven't cleared out yet in turns of question marks. Not to mention my tendency to still check every notice board for contracts and quests.
I went to talk to Dandelion and run into Zoltan conversing with some ruffians. Afterwards he puts me on the tail of some Gwent card dealer name Zed (I really hope there's a Pulp Fiction line worked in there somewhere). While I'm running around looking for a prop sword for Dandelion I notice the upgraded Feline diagrams have turned green so I start looking for those. I still have a handful of Witcher contracts to complete in Velen, an assassination to take part in, and Gwent cards to take from people.
Yet, somehow, I don't feel overwhelmed or in a rush (yet) to get to Skellige. Lambert's been waiting for awhile to complete his quest and I'm supposed to be looking for a Black Pearl for some poor husband, but Lambert can take this time to chill the **** out 'cause he's legitimate insane.

Re: The Witcher 3
I didn't play the first two either. While there's some definite back story and relationship stuff going on I have no clue about I'm not really lost in the greater picture.
An android/iOS mobile app would be more then dlc. A mp gwent component built into the game itself could definitely be dlc.
The only problem is that most of the times the Gwent Workshop mods are reported and they take them down but you can find them in alternative sites.
This card game is fantastic in MP with friends.Comment

Just took down Jenny on death march
It took me 4 tries. Once I realized I just needed to pepper the ground with yrden and always keep a quen shield up I got through it. Crossbow helps for the health regen phase too. Felt nice, death march is fun"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
Skellige is beautiful as hell, and I play with headphones so the smooth music make it even better. Just recently reached Skellige too, and I enjoyed playing in Novigrad and I still return there for various quest obviously but Skellige is amazing. Pretty decent side quest stories so far too.Go NATS!

Re: The Witcher 3
Do you need Griffin or monster feathers?
You can break down harpy feathers and other feathers and turn them into other crafting materials at a blacksmith.
I was looking for one more monster feather for the Enhanced Griffin armor. The harpy feathers turned into what I needed.Comment

Originally posted by HeroesandvillainsYep. Never played the first two and this, I'm going to announce formally now, is the single greatest game I've ever played. Red Dead was the champion, but it had been defeated.

I have put in over 50 hours and im still in Velen. Story wise, im supposed to travel to Skellige but im trying to clear out Velen as much as possible before heading there. Excellent game but the problems finally kicked in last night in regards to busg and glitches...fell through the world twice and got stuck with a infinite black loading screen which is funny because despite no visual, the sound and music is still playing....the music cut out when in the Nilfguard Camp...the pop in is bad at times, the non-existent rain despite it saying rain and the drops hitting the ground is really bad and disappointing.
None of that even includes my general complaints. Hate the inventory setup. The map, all the categories in the main menu like the Alchemy section. To scroll through the entire section to get to what you want is ridiculous. This is where having sub-menus would have been a better idea especially in the quests menu. I go completed quests and it's like one long list of just "blah". That category should have been split into sub-categories. Granted, that would have been extra clicking and whatnot but it being more organized is more important to me.
The gameplay itself is good but not great. CDPR should add in a left stick sensitivity option because when NOT overburdened, Geralt is way too loose. Controls needed to be tighter. The delay in regards to when you press the buttons is bad. And can easily be seen in the menus. Gameplay wise, it hurts. If CDPR was to fix those two things, gameplay would be very good to great. They still need to get rid of that lighting a candle crap because even after patch 1.04, it still happens a lot and it's annoying as hell. Don't need that in the game at all because you could just use Igni to light them up. In fact, come to think about it, that's what they CDPR should do. And then use Aard to blow them out. If anything, that would be cool and better overall.
The unbalanced enemies and whatnot also aggravates me. Once I started Velen and received contracts and whatnot, they're all in the 20's or higher. The first inn you go to in Velen and get that missing brother's contract, it's a level 33!!!! I started Velen at level 4 or 5 (don't remember which). I'm like, WTF??? Way too high. Then, I'll come across quests that are leveled lower than I am. I'm currently at level 15. There's other stuff too but I don't remember as they usually come to me when im obviously playing the game.
With all of that said though, im still playing and want to keep playing. Story and characters are excellent thus far. The visuals are great (except for the massive pop-in at times) and when the rain works like it should, the weather effects are great. Love how it gets cloudy, windy, lightning, thunder, rain drops and then a full downpour.
Since im working the next three days, I won't be able to play again until Sunday but the amazing part is that when im not playing the game, I wish I was. Must admit that this is the only game to do this to me thus far this generation. Still have a long way to go and this game will easily surpass Black Flag in terms of how many hours I put into the game (BF was 120 hours) and be the most hours that I put into any game ever.
Thus far, a 9/10 for me personally. Rating going higher or lower would depend on the rest of the game and how it all plays out and how all the quests go (im trying to do every single one).Comment
