Is there a place to read up or play (don't have a gaming PC) on the previous 2 games to get an understanding of the characters? I started this game and while it is a spectacular and engaging title I find that I am lost with all the character relationships and story branches. I am almost to a point to bow out of this series because of this.

i think somewhere in this thread there is a youtube video that goes through the first two briefly to get you up to speed.

Thanks..I did try that, but not sure it is giving me the true feel. I hate jumping into series that I didn't experience from the beginning, but not having a Witcher 1 on a console probably caused my dilemma.

It took me awhile to get a good feel for the Witchers backstory. There are still things that pop up in W3, or a random cameo by someone who apparently was in a previous game, that confuse me but it isn't too bad. A lot of stuff going on. I think understanding the politics in action are most important

Same. If the option presents itself with trolls I'll always be peaceful with them instead of fighting. All they want is their rocks and not Witcheres pointy backclubs.

Seen it a couple times. What I'm trying to do is dive under water when I see it, to see if I can see the whole whale. So far I haven't succeeded.

Whore's son. I always think of it as an insult. But for Whoreson Junior, it was his nickname.

Hopefully you can. I find this game great because it makes you feel a part of a larger world. You arw there seeing the history unfold but not necessarily always the focal point of the history, if that makes sense.

This is something I enjoy about this game. Most other games put you as the chosen one/savior of the world. Geralt has his own personal quest that is the focal point and isn't important to more than a half dozen people in the world. Everyone else is mostly worried about the war with Nilfgaard. And while you can do small things to help out some peoples lives, the war with Nilfgaard is still happening and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

Granted the Wild Hunt could possibly cause some cataclysmic event, but no one is really worried about it. The focus is just on finding Ciri.
