Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Yeah, disappointing the expansion content is walled off in basically a different mode. Get more than that one piece of content though for the Season Pass, and having bought the game for $20 I don't have a problem paying the extra $17.
Season Pass Includes:
- Guardians of the Flaming Eye Exclusive Warband Mission: Face Sauron’s elite Defenders before the Black Gate and earn the Wolf's Head rune
- Trials of War Challenge Series: Play the full series of 4 challenge modes: Test of Power, Test of Speed, Test of Wisdom and the Endless challenge. Earn points for power, skill, speed and efficiency and build your Legend on the Leaderboards.
- Lord of the Hunt Story Mission: Dive deeper into Mordor’s living world and hunt the wild beasts of Mordor to earn unique runes.
- The Bright Lord Story Mission: Battle against Sauron as Celebrimbor, the great Elven Lord of the Second Age, to unlock powerful runes and the ability to wield the One Ring.
- Future content including additional Warband Missions, Runes, & Skins: Enhance your weapons with powerful Runes and customize Talion’s appearance with unique skins.
The Kotaku article is just for the bold, there is a bit more than that to the season pass.Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
If you like the fighting scheme in the Batman games, you'll like this game.
I bought it a few days ago, held off on playing it to try and beat AC:Unity and now I'm itching to play it again.
How the whole game is set up with the "Nemisis" system is pretty cool. Dying in the game actually has consequences instead of just starting over.
I also don't think you need to be a fan of the series to like the game. The game is overall fun.
It has a lot to take in. After 2 hours of playing, I still don't really understand the map yet.Yeah, I've seen the LOTR movies, but haven't seen any Hobbit ones (want to see them, just don't see tons in theaters anymore). I enjoy the story and I'm not a massive fan of the series....To me it's just like any random fantasy setting/plot, but it's fun to follow. Probably not as good a story as Mass Effect or something, but worth playing through IMO.
I enjoy the Batman style gameplay too...needed something to offset the FPS/shooter type games I'd been playing lately.Moderator

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
A lot of people have different games for Game of the Year, but this one has to be mine. Mainly due to expectations. Pretty much every other game I played let me down in one way or another, yet this game met and greatly outstretched every expectation I had for it. Amazingly enough it came from EA too (which I despise from a corporate standpoint). If you're picking the game up late, and you're getting it for under $20 that's an amazing deal for the quality and level of gaming that's delivered.
Update: As pointed out, not an EA game. It's a Warners Brothers game. Still impressive.Last edited by Valdarez; 12-19-2014, 08:24 PM.Comment

I love this game. Always get sidetracked on story missions trying to get revenge or breaking up duels.Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Beat the story last night...might just trade it in for 23 at Best Buy soon (I paid 25 at Target BF lol)...
It's really fun, but now that I'm done with the story I don't think I'll want to just go upgrade myself more, when I could be playing other new games (on to continuing FC4 now, and want Dragon Age soon)....Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

More just too many awesome new game experiences out there to spend more than 20 hours on this (took me 20 hours!). Recommend it to everyone though!Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
I just enjoyed progressing the story too much....now it feels a bit easy, so i'd probably need to up the difficulty or something.
More just too many awesome new game experiences out there to spend more than 20 hours on this (took me 20 hours!). Recommend it to everyone though!SpoilerI have not started the mission with the character intrduced after you defeat that guy who killed your family.
I am determined to do all the legendary weapon missions (sword, bow and dagger) so I want to trophy those. That should add another 10-15 hours easy. Plus I am constantly doing the red shield missions (raiding feasts, recruitment, executions etc). So maybe I need to slow down the main story line a tad to get a lot of that done.
Loving the game.
But like you I have Dragon Age 3, The Evil Within, Far Cry 4, Destiny and Alien Isolation coming my way (and my son's!). So I am not going to drag this one too much longer.
But no doubt a fantastic and under the radar game. Now Playing on PS5:
