While the fighting isn't as tight as the Batman Arkham series, I just love the animations provided. I never get tired of seeing a decapitation. It also goes to show how stagnant the fighting gameplay in the Assassin's Creed series has become. AC started out with a light wieght Arkham fighting approach and then never really evolved it, which is sad considering how many iterations of the AC game have been released now and how many failed gameplay mechanics they have tried in them (defend the base FTW!).

2) I purchased the sword upgrade that allows executions for 20 seconds but how do I actually pull it off? I see that blue stamina/energy bar for the ability but every time I press L3 and R3, nothing happens and yes, the sword is on fire after completing a hit streak.
Thanks.
You still need to hit (Triangle + Circle) as you normally would for executions while completing a hit streak - only now you can spam it for 20 seconds.
To recharge the meter, perform normal executions.Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Your multiplier will count by twos with each critical hit regardless of rune. I think there's also an upgrade ability that will count each critical hit by threes as well, if I remember right.Comment

It's all good though. I'm at 92% completion with four story missions and two hunting missions left.Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
I'm getting killed over and over and to the point where I'm not sure if I should just start over completely. One dude is at a level 18 on me. Either I need to start running from this guy or something. Ideas? Whenever I confront him, he blows the horn and 10-15 guys join in along with other people that have killed me.Comment

But seriously, have you tried praying on any of his weaknesses. Sometimes you can instant kill them or hit him with fire or carivores, etc. When they panic from a weakness they are a lot easier easier to kill and they won't use the horn.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

I have been terrible lately at gaining intel. I get too caught up in killing especially now I can do these brutal finishing kills. Whoops!“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
I would also suggest luring them near fire or an explosive barrel then shoot it the fire or barrel with an arrow. Pretty much everybody in the game hates being on fire. Quickest way to thin the herd is by fire. I pretty much played this entire game as a sniper. Stayed high and picked people off one by one until the crowd got smaller, then I would attack the main guy.
And when I found myself within a group of enemies, I stayed on the move, jumping out of the center of the circle to the edges. That is one important thing to keep in mind, don't let them form a circle around you. Once they do, immediately hop way to the outside of edge of it.
I usually one go for the spear throwers 1st, snipe them out 1 by 1 from above. Then I would go for the spear and shield carrying guys next, arrow to the head.
Always use the environment to your advantage. Shoot open cages, shoot down bait traps, shoot down mag flies nests, shoot fire pits, shoot the weak spots of walls, etc.Comment

Thank you for the suggestions, guys. I just ran into this game wanting to be a bad-*** from the start and have been paying the price for not being patient enough - big mistake.Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
As much as this game gets compared to the AC series, I think Shadow of Mordor outshines it in ways with the use of the Nemesis system.
The assassinations of the random Captains is something that I've wanted in AC. I love how the low-level captains are just wondering around and you can take them out if you choose and how you choose. It's very organic in the execution. The removal of a captain also does something to my psyche knowing that I altered the hierarchy of command, even if in terms of game play, the effect is more subtle.
If any of you have this for PC. Add me on steam, if you want a new friend (Chizzypoof) because I want more Vendetta missions!Comment
