Unlock the Combat Executions (Ranger) and Ride Caragors (Wraith) abilities early, they will help you a lot in combat. You'll continually get mauled by caragors if you don't learn to tame them. For your purchasable upgrades, concentrate on health, wraith arrows, and focus time earlier than opening up more Rune spots on your weapons.

Tough finding health as well. Seems like fight get low, run away, regenerate a little and fight again before the chiefs health recoups.

Once you have finished the story and missions is there a challenging "open world" where you can still play the game?

About to take out my first warchief and I get taken out by a guy throwing a spear! This game is so much fun.

Has anyone ran into a ghul matron?

I also can't seem to get a level 25 rune. I've set two warchiefs up to take out, but they both dropped epic runes.

Yeah I ran into Ghul Matron in a cave, that thing was tough to kill.

For that, I had a good branded warchief candidate for the level 25 rune and then fast traveled near his Beck and Call mission and saved my game and backed it up to a flash drive. Then I would do whatever I needed to do to get the extra bonuses (for me it was bringing a caragor to the fight) and then dispatch the chief. If he gave me an Epic, I reloaded from my flash drive and tried again. Took me 3 attempts.

Yeah, probably, the hardest enemy I've faced. My strategy ended up being to sprint out of the cave and take it on out in the open. I also used throwing daggers to build up my hit streak so I could shoot a fire arrow and use the Wraith Flash more often. I've died 6 times in the game, twice to that Matron (twice to Caragors, twice to un-named, but soon promoted, orcs).

I spent most of my day yesterday playing this. I absolutely love this game.

I got them out in the open from the western most forge tower in the first map. I left a couple to go back into their holes and warn. Did the same for a second wave. Two matrons popped out on the third wave. They were easy to dispatch with the execution combo, though.

Now I just have to scrounge up a level 25 rune and finish the Slaver missions.

At ~65 hours I finally 100% this thing. I think for the first 20 hours or so I just roamed around and fought everything that moved with reckless abandon.

Its a great game and a really good world. The Nemesis System is awesome. It really needs to be implemented in a lot of games, particularly open world games, to make the enemies more than just disposable AI combatants. I will say the game wasn't particularly hard, but the combat was always satisfying even in death.

I would love a Game of Thrones universe game like this.

The nemesis system is great. This is the first game where it is cool to sometimes die. I love that the captains/warchiefs get stronger by killing you.

I love when you start to fight a captain and they go through the dialogue. The best was the one captain who was just heavily breathing when our swords locked up lol.

The scores for the Warchiefs are amazing, too. I don't think that aspect has been mentioned a lot, if any, but it definitely sets the mood and ties into the movie-universe very well.

I only ran into this once, but I had a captain/warchief leave me with one hit. I was both impressed and pissed.
