Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Finished the story this morning. At 86% completion and 30h 21m I completed all the main misisons, all the sword/bow/dagger missions, and found all the collectibles. Still have 3 hunting challenges, 4 or 5 survival challenges, and a good amount of those Outcast missions to go.
My favorite part of the game is the Branding of the 5 Warchiefs to gain access to the final missions. It was fun taking out bodyguards or branding them to defeat the Warchiefs and put a new Uruk under my control in place.

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
You'd probably have a hard time following the back story and why the main story of the game matters, but you can still have fun playing the game. The main character is not in the movies, he's a brand new character for the game, but the game centers around the Ring of Power and has a couple characters and mentions to people in the movies/books. No reason to really watch the Hobbit movies, but you'd get more out of the game if you watch the LOTR trilogy first.

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
I'm at 36% complete with 20 hours. I just start in an area and get obsessed with clearing the immediate proximity. I haven't played a main mission in several days.
The Orcs' dialogue cracks me up. I had a Capitan in a hold dragging him up a platform with a soldier on our heels. The soldier catches up and takes a couple swings. "No, don't attack me you idiot" the captain says.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 10-19-2014, 08:05 PM.

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Holy **** that looks amazing Fresh!
I'm tempted to pick this up, after watching a video on YouTube, the combat system gives me the batman series vibe.
Normally I don't play these type of games, I've never seen the LOTR trilogy and I have a backlog of games, are the only reasons holding me back.Horseshoes & HollyWoodComment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Played 3-4 missions last night and then got sucked in with the 150,000 pounds achievement that was ending. Then once again got completely sidetracked with the politics of Mordor. lol Trying my best to stay on with the story but... the nemesis system gets you.Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
This game looks like all you do is fight swarms of Orcs in identical looking places. Is there anything more to the game than killing captains and chiefs? All the environments that I have seen look identical. Do the environments change at all?We are the music makers...Comment

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
The second area is a little more hilly and grassy than the first, and the Uruk Strongholds are a little more advanced. There is day to night progression (night time brings ghouls out) and there is rain. But yes the game is mainly killing the Uruks over and over. But the point of the game is how you kill them by learning their weaknesses to exploit. Some Uruks are pretty much invulnerable to all your attacks, so you have to infiltrate their army and betray them. Some times you need to turn the Uruks to your side, so you have to make a strategy in order put yourself in a situation to take over the enemy (branding).

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
Im only 9% through with the main mission. Been spending tons of time just going after Sauron's army and messing with the Photo mode. Going to try to make a concerted effort to jump back onto the main story missionPSN: ckarlic

Re: Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
I did the Hunter storyline last night with Torvian. That little guy is awesome.
Since I opened up the second area my nemesis board stays full. Prior to that I could wipe out 10 guys and not have any promotions.
