When it comes to movies I find myself disagreeing with professional critics all the time. With games it's a little less so. I felt The Order's critical reception lined up pretty precisely with my personal experience.
I don't think this game is going to be very similar to Order in any category (I think NMS will dramatically out sell, dramatically out review, and dramatically out play for me personally).
At first I really didn't understand why it was brought up in NMS thread but I guess I kinda understand the parallal though as far as a game with enormous expectations from the fanbase.
Man it seems like early copies have hit the streets everywhere. I see a new post about a guy getting a copy every 5 minutes around the Internet."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Does crap like what?
Ever think it may be a technical thing for the new update, and just needed to be done due to what some believe are balancing with barren vs. Life planets.
The saves are incompatible, so that is a sign it is 'technical'.
Developers are 'not out to get us'.

It's a day one patch that has been in progress for a month. With dev time, QA time and certification time, there is no way it includes any huge changes. Yes, I'm sure it includes balancing, bug fixes and performance stuff like every other day one patch.
I think it's likely that they made changes to the backend that would clash with saves or discovered items. I also think it's probably not impossible to work around that. Instead of migrating data, a truncate statement is just easier.
The problem is the lack of communication and the statements on Twitter. You can say they're not out to get you, but they sure as hell don't appreciate the people getting the game early or the people trying to watch footage. They complained about it. Instead of telling people early on that they would be erasing data, they, again, said nothing until yesterday.
If early buyers bothered them so much, they should have just disabled the servers. Or, if they were running tests against the production environment, they should have done some basic IP or account filtering.
Look, I'm not anti this game or Hello Games. My problem is that they communicated complaints instead of actual useful info like the pc release date. I hope the game does well.Last edited by sbauer318; 08-06-2016, 08:27 PM.Comment

Whatever, they do not owe us anything, lol.
They were hard at work, busting their *** on a 13 person team doing overnights and the like.
Cut them some slack. You are that upset, then speak with your wallet. Not complain in a thread about what you 'think' their nefarious things they are doing.
Sean also tweeted that they were not able to speak on things due to publishing and the like.
Getting so sick of complaining about the people who pour their passion to craft us these games. It is downright insulting, and in fact, would not be tolerated in the specific sports game threads, so it shouldn't be here either.
Tried to offer a different perspective based on technical reasoning, but I guess it is more fun to complain about would of's and should of's. It really isn't a big deal, and truly will be forgotten Tuesday.

Whatever. I'm criticising things that should be criticized. They're not crafting the game out of the goodness of their hearts. They're not spending their nights working on thankless open source software for nothing. No, they're employees working to make a product that they hope people will buy. When you come to the show with a big boy price tag, you need to face big boy criticisms.
I pour my heart into every piece of software that I create every day. It might not be a game, but it's stuff people use every day and I hope they enjoy it. Sometimes we do something that sucks and we deserve criticism for it.
Just because they make games as a small company doesn't make them immune to critism that every company gets.

This is nothing to lose sleep over, nor is this **** really a big deal. Most are forgetting about it, and will be forgotten about once it launches.
I also never said they were doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, so nice strawman, but they also owe us nothing until the launch date comes and we purchase something that is not what they say it is. Then they owe us to address that.

One thing I appreciate about this forum is that we require proof before someone can post early impressions/reviews of games.
