Definitely NOT as bad as critics made it out to be.
Appreciate the insight (from youvalss and others as well). I'm thinking it might be worth my time at the reduced price point. Very intrigued by the setting.

        Re: Mafia 3

I like it so far. I see where you guys are coming from in terms of repetition (seems to be taking the form of "find house/church/business, kill, takeover" but I'm enamored with the time period and setting. I find New Orleans a very fascinating place and it's really something special to see it replicated through a 1968 filter.

Naturally, it's easy to notice some of the small things that make GTA so great, but a lot of it is a nitpick. For instance:

-I hear a lot of repetition from bad guys in Mafia, particularly during drawn out gun battles.
-The entire game has a weird shine to it, like everything has a glossy cover
-I noticed that if I change my clothes and appearance, the cutscenes still have my character clean shaven in a green jacket
-The weather and natural lighting is solid, but just not on GTA's level to me (GTA's still blows me away)
-Car damage seems a little iffy
-While the storyline is solid so far, the overall writing feels noticeably less clever; GTA's radio commercials, TV shows, etc. are all relatively underrated in terms of how cunning (or at least self-aware) they are. Mafia isn't terrible, but some of the dialogue falls a little flat sometimes, especially if there's an attempt at humor in there. But maybe that'll come around.

        A couple of questions:

-Is it possible to see the name and artist of the song that's currently playing on the radio? So far I've only figured out that right on the D-Pad changes the station. Am I missing some other radio controls?
-Is it autosaving at every single moment? Sometimes I turn off the game and wonder if it's going to remember the last thing I did (say, find an album) or just the last mission I did.

I had one more question but I've forgotten. Ah well.

I never saw any songs/artist to display on the screen but im sure you can find a list here and figure it out pretty quickly.

I wanted to know as well if it is possible to know what song is playing. And I do think it's autosaving every time.

              Re: Mafia 3

I've had the game crash on me quite a few times; sends me right back to the XBox dashboard. I didn't even know that was something that could happen with console games.

The game itself is a bit repetitious but thankfully I've really enjoyed the challenge of stealth. Yes, the A.I. can be pretty dense but I'm actually okay with it because it allows me to succeed at stealthing with greater frequency.

Stealth attacks are actually something I've yearned for in GTA and RDR. I know there's certain rare times where it works but more times than not, it's felt varying degrees of impossible to roll up and execute an extended stealth attack in those games, particularly on RDR. So I'm digging that so far.

I can hear my PS4 louder when I play this game, I think it's the fan working harder. Maybe I'll try to vacuum around the PS4 and see if that helps.

The first DLC Faster Baby was alright, it was more of a continuation of The Southern Union but only in a neighboring town.

Stones Unturned DLC I give a 8 out of 10. I had such high hopes for this DLC when it was announced Donovan would be doing missions with you. The reality is Donovan is a worthless kill joy that constantly get hurt and you have to revive him. You be facing 10 enemies at once, Donovan will manage to kill one out of the 10, end up getting hurt and you left to deal with that massive amount of enemies yourself. He is completely worthless.

I enjoyed the gaming experience but yeah, one of the thoughts constantly coming to mind was, "Man, imagine putting thousands of hours into a game like this, with meticulous New Orleans details and whatnot, only to have that work overshadowed by wonky things like enemy A.I. and spazzy glitches."

Has to be maddening for a lot of those guys.

Just finished both of the story DLCs this past weekend and enjoyed them. Loved the Faster Baby DLC because it continued the whole Black Panther/Southern Union aspect of the game. Felt good driving away from a group of cop cars while being able to stop them from chasing you by shooting down stacked up logs on the side of the road. Wish they would have did more with the mary jane side of things. The being able to grown mary jane is fun, but I would like to distribute it as well by driving it from point A to point B.

The Stones Unturned DLC was cool, but it didn't hit me like the first DLC. They could have did a lot more with it. Don't want to say too much since it just came out.

One thing I really hate about both is that there should have been more missions. I had to force myself to take a break from both DLCs so I wouldn't finish them quickly.
