Another reason why reviews dont mean much considering a lot are criticizing the game being long. I guess they dont like it because they have to play a lot of different games so one being long sort of messes up the schedule for them.

But for me, I want this game to be LONG. I want to play the hardest difficulty, spend a half hour trying to meticulously stealth my way around freakers or marauders. I WANT it to be difficult. I want it to be long so I can appreciate the difficulty and the story.

Now for games like Metro Exodus which is a linear half game/half movie, yeah I'll turn down the difficulty and get through it fairly quickly. But not with this game.

Maybe BUT I have been doing stealth. Eliminating the freakers and human enemies literally one by one. Have not faced more than three freakers at once which happened only once and was where I almost died but im pretty good in third person action adventure so I was able to melee them to death and stay alive. I have also found a trick early on that can isolate enemies and you can stealth kill them from behind. Won't say what it is but simply threw gameplay and experimentation. Of course, im only three hours in. Not expecting this to work when I hit 20 or 30 hours in.

I've seen that sometimes hordes can be 200, 300 freakers... How the hell would you not die over and over against those numbers?

I think that's the big thing giving me pause about this game... I'll face something like that and get super frustrated that I cant defeat that.

Happy I never base my purchases on Reviews, never have never will. After playing last night, Im loving this game, can't wait for more after the work and weekend. he game is beautiful on top of it all.

True. The AI and enemies seeing/detecting me seem to be very forgiving thus far. It seems to be based on a "numbers game" to where as long as you're not overwhelmed, you should be okay.

I think that's the big thing giving me pause about this game... I'll face something like that and get super frustrated that I cant defeat that.

I haven't faced more than 5 freakers/enemies at once and even then, I don't see it as being overly difficult. I did increase my health twice though and always have a maxed out limit for medical kits. Have not attempted any of the hordes yet. That will definitely require more ammo and firepower than what I currently have.

It seems like the user reviews on Metacritic are a little better then the critic reviews especially if you take out the 0 & 1's.

So far I’m disappointed in the game. But still plan to keep playing to give it a fair shot. Won’t dive into story this early but the overall controls aren’t very good. Riding the bike the controls are too sensitive, controlling the character is clunky, gun play is clunky. Enemy AI is puzzling, sometimes they stand around waiting to be attacked if your already attacking one of them. Had one that couldn’t decide if it wanted to run back into the nest or come get me. Just kept running back and forth from me to the nest. Probably a bug. Game has a lot of potential so don’t wanna shelve it so soon.

This should be in my mailbox from Gamefly today. The reviews are a bit of a downer, but there are a lot of games I end up liking that get average or poor reviews.

Vampyr got average to bad reviews and that game is great imo.

So I'm excited to play it.

This game seems interesting. I am playing a couple other single player games right now so I’ll probably wait for a price drop to pick this one up. It looks good though
