    Re: Days Gone

I'm probably no more than an hour and a half in so far, but Days Gone has been very enjoyable up to this point. I was a little surprised by how good it looks, this is a gorgeous game. I think the textures of clothing and environmental elements are really well done. The story has my interest from the start, so hopefully, it continues like this.

One small thing that I appreciate is that you can't just sprint around forever because of your stamina. I think that's a good touch in a survival game. The combat has been fun, and the motorcycle mechanics seem fine to me. A buddy of mine was stressing how bad they were, but they didn't seem problematic in the early sequence. So far, so good.

      Enjoy the game!

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Really enjoying the game. It's like a mix of LoU and Mad Max. Very fun, and another worthy Sony first party title.

          Re: Days Gone

I've made a lot of progress since my last post and my thoughts haven't changed. This is a very good game. I hadn't read any reviews prior to getting it, but it was hard not to hear about how poorly it was received. I'm not sure what the major issues people have with it are, but it's checking a lot of boxes for me. I've been wanting another game like this for a while.

Story: It's nothing that will change your life, but it's definitely holding my attention. The characters are solid enough and it's getting more and more interesting as the story unravels.

Combat: The shooting mechanics are good and the melee is great. Many videogames have some form of sneaking into a base and killing all the enemies, and Days Gone does that at least as well, or better than all of them. It's hard to explain how much fun I'm having with this aspect of the game, but it just feels right. What's especially cool is the random dialogue enemies will say during the middle of an engagement. It's very well done.

Environment: I couldn't ask for a better world for this type of game. I've already seen a lot of differences between locations. It's a desolate and dark world, but it's still nice to look at. For example, Fallout games had a similar type of vibe, but the world wasn't very interesting to look at. This isn't like that at all.

Zombies: Damn these zombies are fast. When things start getting out of hand, you can find yourself surrounded by dozens of them in no time. I've only seen a few varieties of them so far, but I like how they're done.

Inventory/Upgrades : There are a ton of upgrades in this game, which I'm a fan of. I love working on improving my character over time. The inventory system is clean and there's a lot of different weapons and tools available to use. I dig it.

I like this game a lot and it's a nice appetizer for TLOU2.

That's good to hear, I can't wait to get back to it. If my post gave the impression that I'm not enjoying the story, that's not the case at all. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit, but I didn't want to oversell it, especially at the early point that I'm at now. I kind of alluded to things getting more interesting, and I've reached a spot where things are really picking up, so I'm curious to see where I'll go from here.

                Re: Days Gone

What I love, at least in the early portions, is that combat is very difficult. You can’t just take on 5-6 drifters and blast through them with ease. I’ve failed on clearing a camp in the mountains so many times that I’ve moved onto other tasks until my gear improves.

My only beef is I wish you could loot things from your motorcycle. It’s a pain to go track plants on foot.

                    W.T.H.!?!?!?!?!??!
I've now had to replay the "Drifters on the Mountain" 4 different times and I'm still not passed it because after I see the 'save' icon spin and finish, I save it, yet it doesn't friggin save!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have a lot of time to game - maybe around 30 minutes tops per day.
Why won't it save after I'm done this stupid mission!?!?!!
How much further do I have to do anything in order to save past the point of meeting with the head of that refuge???
He tells me to get rid of some guys, the game saves and off I go.
But everytime I fire up the game, I'm right back to bringing my injured buddy back to our hideout!
I am so friggin annoyed, I'm thinking of selling this game immediately.

Why can't I save in the middle of a mission? It's friggin 2019!!! I'm not playing on a Sega Genesis!

You can always put your ps4 to rest and then when you start it back up the next time it will still be where it was assuming the power doesn't get turned off.

People are sleeping on this game big time. An easy 8/10 for me. It’s not earth shattering or revolutionary, but man is it rock solid.

Story is grabbing me and I’m maybe only 20% done. Heck of a grind to upgrade the camps, but this thing has me coming back every night

I never got into it. I got a good preorder deal and sold it at cost. Maybe I will pick it up when it’s cheap a year from now. But I felt I was playing it simply because I bought it rather than actually wanting to play it. I’ve got other games I’d rather spend my limited gaming time on.
