The % of missions are confusing the simplest way I can say it is just keep on playing and completing things and eventually you will get to 100% on everything. The storylines will go away and then come back later.

          Days Gone

I am a level 22 and still feel I do not have not enough skill nor fire power to take on a horde.

          No freaking way.

Now I am very close to level 3 trust at Iron Mikes camp.

I am also getting lethal at melee and now jacking up my focus.

Safe to assume once I can get level 3 fire power and max my melee I can hold my own with a horde?

Right now if I stumble on one or see a horde chase me I am outta there like a bat out of hell.

Throwing hands against a big horde just isn't gonna happen, no matter what . I think you get the Chicago Chopper at level 3, that gun will be your best friend once you start clearing them out.

There's also another machine gun that I used alongside it, but I forget what that one was called. Between both of those and your explosives, you'll be able to handle anything in the game.

You can probably defeat some of the smaller hordes now, but it would be very difficult to take on the larger ones without getting better weapons. I cleared most of them out after I finished the campaign.

My approach to the hoards was this: First get either the RPD or MG55 machine gun, load up on everything , ammo , med kit, grenades , scrap , everything , even fill the ammo bag on your bike if you have one , you're going to need it. Then I find out where they like to gather , each hoard has 2 or 3 spots they travel to and some are much better for taking them on. Once I decide on the spot I wait for them to move there and I park my bike close enough so I can run to it without running out of stamina.

I creep up as close as I can get to the hoard and toss one of those noise maker things and they swarm it. Then I quickly throw a couple pipe bombs or those napalm cocktails into the crowd which usually takes out a fair amount of them. The rest will start after me so I run for my bike. They seem to taper off the further you run so you can stop and start picking them off. I use the focus slo-mo to start mowing them down. If they get to close I jump on my bike and ride away , then come back and start picking them off again.

What really sucks is when you are engaged with a hoard and one of those psycho bears shows up......Oh also I try and fight the hoards in the daylight whenever possible. To many other things to deal with at night.

I’ve been watching The Walking Dead since the very beginning, so I keep calling them “herds.” But, honestly, they could be called “steak and beer” and I STILL wouldn’t want anything to do with them, yet. Lol! I run for my life! I know I’m not ready. 😱

I believe I saw this on sale today through the PS Store. I don't know why I held off on this game, but I might finally bite the bullet and buy/download this.

Assuming I get this...I'll be spending time with this game, NBA 2K20, MLB 19 the Show, WWE 2K20, along with working 6 days a week, and watching/playing a ton of basketball and watching playoff baseball.

My wife might leave me by the end of the year lol.

Totally agree. Really, really into it.
Currently level 24.. and avoid hordes like no.other. lol
Eventually I'll dive into one to see how I do but right now I enjoy the flow I'm taking.

So far from start to now I haven't lost any interest at all. Yeah there is some repetitiveness but at least for me.. it's always been fun. Heck I haven't even fast traveled yet as I love to explore and help any survivors lol..

Even though the gameplay is repetitive and the story Is longer then I prefer. It was able to keep my attention all the way through and I never got bored or lost interest.

Something I'm not sure anyone has talked about is the controls. Its a standard control scheme so that makes it easy to just pick up and play. I didn't have to spend several hours trying to figure out what did what I just picked it up and instantly knew.

Every single open world game is always going to have repetitive tasks. The question comes down to...are you enjoying them, is the story super engaging and the world you are playing in immersive.

This checks every box for me. I love horror. I love apocalyptic stories and atmosphere. I really enjoy diverse characters. I love smooth gun play and a fair leveling system. And I love crafting and variety in the crafting system.

This game really has hit it out of the park for me.

I am at this point now:

For those that played it all the way is this the half way point? Or I am farther along than that?

You are probably flirting with the half way point or maybe a bit past it. At this point its hard to tell with all of the additional side quests and such that are added into the game.

The crafting and upgrade system was well done that kind of stuff is hit and miss with me in games. In Days Gone I enjoyed it the only gripe was a lot of the level 3 guns I wish I didn't get so close to the end of my play through. I will give the critics some slack bc I heard they build they got wasn't the finished product that we played. In a off year for AAA blockbuster games this was about the only I bought and loved it.

I think a little bit past the halfway mark. I always check IGN for my progress to know where I'm at.
