I want to say it was an elk up in the snowy mountains, but I can't remember 100%. I do wonder what would have happened if I approached without ever firing a shot. I imagine the fox was hungry and would have tried to fight me for that meat.
I saw something similar with two foxes trying to eat a dead deer carcass. I didn't kill it though.

I also felt bad when I accidentally rode between a rabbit and a fox. The fox was chasing the rabbit and I inadvertently helped the rabbit get away. Poor fox just jetted off the opposite direction.

      Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

The game is alright. I like the huge selection of animal species. Don't spend much time in camp, I like doing my own thing. Yesterday spent 2 hours just riding around to see how far I could go. Went wayyyyyy west until I hit the mountain ranges, which I shall call the land of the elk, bobcat and wild boar. Killed a couple of the elk. Some big creatures. Got killed by a bobcat. Went way of north back to the land of the snow until the map ended. Killed some ram up there. Went back east then back down south to where the camp was at.

Spent a lot of time fishing. Caught bluegill, small mouth bass, large mouth bass, steelhead trout, perch and muskie so far. The bigger the fish, the longer it takes to reel in. I also like to turn my controller sideways when I am fishing. For me anyway it makes it easier to reel. If the game allowed me to, I would kill every member of the gang I am in except for Charles. I find them all to be highly annoying except for Charles.

I also wish the camp cook and the rest of the gang showed more excitement when I bring in big game meat and upgrading stuff. Like come on, I bring you ram and elk meat, you acting the same way as if I brought you rabbit. Camp supplies well stocked too. Ungrateful people I swear. Tried to catch a wild horse, yeah that didn't work out well. Fished during a thunder storm just to see if I would get struck by lightening, nope. I think I slept at my actual camp maybe 2 or 3 times. I just prefer to be by myself, setup camp somewhere out in the wild, pitch a tent.

Ugh. I misread something along the way because I thought you could sell legendary pelts to the trapper and he'd hold them for you.

Legendary pelts, yes. Any regular pristine pelts are just one shot deals for the trapper and for camp.

I'll admit I am susceptible to jump scares. This game has gotten me twice thus far. The first time I was stalking big game at twilight, and stepped right on a rattlesnake, with no warning. The controller rumbled, there was a sound effect and I hollered out like I had been stabbed!

The second time was a random encounter, and I don't want to spoil it, so...

                Red Dead Redemption 2

During my meandering tonight I happened upon a hunter in the woods. He yelled at me for being loud and to keep it down since he was tracking his dinner. I ignored his request, greeted him kindly and decided to creep behind him for a bit.

After he stopped a few times I figured I'd equip my bow; any animal he found was mine not matter how it went down lol. So I draw my bow, and the controls being what they are, I aim at the Hunter accidentally. Now he's hostile and firing away at me. I start jumping around trying to not get shot, and since I was in much too close of quarters to fire my bow, I switch to both of my pistols. Showing the hunter why duel wielding is a must. A couple pops later, he's a goner.

The bad news is the grizzly bear he was tracking was getting ready to charge me from the top of the hill just ahead of me at this point. So I equip my bow again and get ready. I only had the bow and 2 pistols on me and if I somehow kill this thing and live, I want to preserve it's quality.

Anyway, turns out I have ONE arrow...and grizzly decides to charge. I've got pretty much 2 seconds and 1 chance to get this shot off. Dead Eye activated, placed one marker over the right eye of old grizzly and release; dead.

Called on the horse, skinned the grizzly, now on my way to the Trapper with a perfect Bear Pelt in hand.

I got a pristine beaver and raccoon along the same river tonight. Felt good. Could have had a pristine cougar pelt too but I used the wrong weapon. Got two satchels out of the way which feels like amazing progress lol. 3 more to go.

Gotta find specific landmarks. That's all I got.

If I haven't seen the landmark, then I won't go searching for the thing.

The game looks completely different with hdr off. I'm running with it off until patch.

Yeah, hdr implementation is junk. No sign of a patch coming for it anytime soon.

Saw a nice example of the witness and investigation system.

Had to steal an oil tank and decided to wear a mask for the deed.

Killed one guy. Someone ran off after witnessing it. Used that moment to steal the oil tank and rush away.

As I'm zooming through the hills, I notice three horses with riders galloping toward me. I quickly identify them as lawmen.

Immediately my mask comes off, and the lawmen rush past me to the location the crime was committed.

They didn't know the crime. They didn't know I had committed one. Thought that was great. By the time they got to the location, I was long gone.
