Not sure how I feel about this game yet. I didn’t play the last one much.

Did they take out TDM? How do you change classes? I’ve always played as a Medic.

Have like 5 hours left on the trial. They have custom tdm servers in the portal.

Yes I found them thanks. I hope this game grows on me because right now I feel I e wasted some loot on this one.

If they can fix some of the hit detection issues and remove the body armor from the game I’d be happy.

Dennis Leary wrote a song about the people who wear body armor in this game. [emoji35]

            Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

Game isn't bad when you can get into a match, but they made too many changes nobody asked for that are for the worse.

Why is there no scoreboard now? Who asked for that to be removed?

Why was all chat removed? Who asked for that to be removed?

Why does it not tell you how close nearby medics are? Did they not learn their lesson in V when fans complained and they had to patch that in?

Why did they hide that the logic editor could only be used for TDM and FFA modes?

Why do you get sent back to the menu after a match? Why don't you just go into the next match like it used to be? The amount of time you waste trying to get into another match is silly.

The hit reg is in a terrible spot right now. Myself and many others have clips clearly showing bullets going right through people constantly.

The sound is just flat out not good. Battlefield has had great sound for years. Nearly nothing in this game sounds good right now and too many things are not close to being loud enough.

I get not allowing people to lock squads. I don't agree with it, but I get the logic. Why can we not choose what squad we join, though? Who asked for that?

There's many more, but this game has so many decisions that were made with it that are all flat out the wrong one. Whatever vision they had for this game was terrible and it's going to be just like V where we will have to wait for 20 patches to come out over the next 6+ months as they fix their game once again.

It makes zero sense why they removed things like the scoreboard, the medic display, etc. when nobody asked for those changes and if there were any polls around the decisions the ones that were made are definitely not what the consumers would have voted for. It's like the game was designed by people who have zero idea as to what the fans of the series actually want.

                Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

I am not the best player, but I could certainly hold my own in past games and was typically near the top of the leader board.

And now I am struggling to even get hit markers at close range and can’t get any kills as a result. This means leveling is taking forever so I can’t unlock any attachments for guns to make their piss-poor accuracy and handling any better.

What’s funny is this wasn’t the case in all the matches I played last night. I did two masteries in the limited time I played, but after several hours today I want to rip my hair out.

Can we level up guns if we play against bots? May have to do that because it is damn near impossible to do so otherwise.

                    Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

This game is about a 5/10 for me right now. It's just not very fun.

EA quit supporting Battlefield V early and abandoned Firestorm and Conquest to start early development on this title. They threw three different studios at it.

It's a creative hot mess and right now it feels like a hero shooter / battle royale game trying to be a regular PVP multiplayer game. Surprisingly one of the better features of the game is the ****ing tornado lol.

I'm not new to this and I played over 1000 hours of BFV so I understand DICE at their best and worst so I didn't expect a flawless launch but the overall direction/meta of the game is awful. I'll give a few opinions/issues.

                    - The map size is too large in most cases. There were several Battlefield V maps that felt empty with 64 players and then they went and made maps 5X+ the size of some of those with very little cover between objectives. The flow of every map is just bad and you don't really feel like what you are doing as a squad is actively contributing to who wins and loses the round. I have been in close rounds before and didn't even know it. There's no climatic music even signaling you to the end of the round it just feels like the round will end and you have no idea who won until it shows. Typically the worst map is going to be the beta map but Orbital may be the best one in the game. Some of them are really bad like Hourglass.

                    - DICE took shots at the community for complaining that the specialists would promote individualistic gameplay rather than team work and the community was absolutely right about this one. When you see a teammate you don't know what kind of kits they have on them like ammo/meds and guess what? There's no in-game chat other than text chat so you couldn't ask if you needed to. For some who play with friends I don't see this as an issue but for the general public trying to find people to play with or maybe they are new to the franchise this is not helpful.

                    - Armor? People being able to equip armor as a gadget slot is bad for the game. The only indicator you have that someone has it on is after you already engage and shoot at them. It's a BR gimmick that doesn't belong.

                    - Bloom/Spread on weapons is not learnable. In other games you have weapons that behave a certain way and you can learn to control recoil patterns but in this game it's a roll of the dice when you decide to engage someone. The random bullet deviation and what I would refer to as "phantom bullets" makes it impossible to engage more than 1 or 2 people. The time to kill is also pretty high so you can't kill 3 or more people with 1 magazine. The gunplay feels objectively worse than it did in the beta. A friend of mine made a very well thought out and professional post on the 2042 reddit with video showing how he tested weapons against a wall and the moderators removed it. They don't want legitimate feedback. In my opinion they did this to level the playing field and talent gap because the engagement distances are further than previous games. Even with a new controller you can't play with single digit deadzone settings.. no amount of tuning can fix the hit registration right now.

                    - Portal is fun they need to release more server space and eliminate bot farming. Perhaps add a tab for dedicated DICE servers for Bad Company 2 Rush and Battlefield 3 conquest. Right now if I look at Portal mostly what I see is 100+ ping servers that are mostly empty. When it works and you get a good server it's a lot of fun though so I hope they support it.

                    - There's no scoreboard? I get that it's supposed to be everyone's Battlefield and make people feel welcome but the scoreboard doesn't even do the most basic function which is show you the score.

                    - No server browser. So you have no idea what regional servers you're going into, whether there will be bots filling up the server, what the server ping is before entering, etc. The game also kicks you to the menu to queue up again for the next round so the days of having rivalries with other clans for multiple rounds is dead and gone.

                    - You can't select what squad you want to join and you can't remove people from your squad even as squad leader. So if you were a random person trying to change squads and play with other people you can't do it. If you're in a squad with a few friends trying to make room for someone else your only option is to back out to the menu and re queue up again.

                    - I think I counted 22 total weapons. There's 2 traditional semi-automatic pistols. This tells me they are gearing up to try to make a lot of money on season passes/micro transactions.

                    - Vehicles feel okay but the hovercraft is the most OP thing in the game. It can take 3 rockets, can climb building walls, etc.

If you paid to play it early you paid to be a beta tester. There's a good game in there somewhere but it's not a very fun experience unless you just like aimlessly doing sandbox type stuff. Portal is the best part of the game but even it needs some TLC.

Still playing the trial but I gotta say I'm disappointed for all the reasons listed by everyone so far. As of now I'm probably not buying but I'll finish out my trial then decide. The scoreboard missing probably part of the everyone gets a trophy mentality. Don't want hurt feelings if your near the bottom. For the record I suck at these games but enjoy them even though I was always middle to bottom on the scoreboard. [emoji23] [emoji38]...

                        Re: Battlefield 2042 - Launching October 2021

It's too long to quote, but I agree with a lot of what you're saying right now AU.

Thankfully on PC there is a server browser for Portal servers(maybe there is on console too) and I have found quite a few servers that have seemingly remained up and I enjoy playing them over the default 2042 experience.

The servers I've been playing are 2042 maps mixed with classic maps, and use the BF3 factions so that the classic class gameplay is there without specialists. They also have map disabled and higher bullet damage so it is a mixture of the default game and hardcore and it feels overall like the classic battlefield experience I loved.

No health regeneration, no map, but still some variations of spotting and other things that make it a hybrid hardcore mode. It's great fun and the few servers I played like that were always near full at 128 players.

Playing the game like that is significantly more enjoyable for me than the base game with specialists. I didn't care for them when announced, nor when I played the beta, and now with the release and some more time with them I am completely against the specialist system.

You tried to innovate, you failed. Can we move on?

The game is in a very similar place that V was in at launch. There are some changes that are good, it's clear a decent foundation is there, a good to great game is in there hiding, they just need to give it some more love. There are tons of decisions that make no sense and make the game worse, but it still has a number of things going for it right now that I'm overall enjoying my time with it.

Hit reg needs work ASAP. RNG spray patterns need to go ASAP. Portal needs more content.

Those are my top 3 issues. The lack of a traditional scoreboard is dumb, but I can handle the game without it. I can still see how I'm doing, how my squad stacks up, and what the overall ticket counts are. I don't need much more, personally, but it still makes no sense why they made the changes they did.

Fix the sprays and hit reg, then add more maps, weapons, factions, and customization options to Portal along with rented servers and I'll be good.

It seems Portal content is months off, unfortunately, but hopefully they offer more options soon for it. It's rather silly you can't make a map rotation that also bounces between game modes. I always enjoyed the servers that would be conquest a few rounds, then rush for a round or two. Now you have to choose to be rush or conquest 100% of the time which is silly.

If they introduce rented servers and more customization and allow us to play Conquest on Caspian Border with BF3 factions, then Rush on Valapariso with BC2 factions, then Conquest on new WWII maps with 1942 factions, and allow the mechanics to change each map also, then BF will be in a great place.

Portal has a decent base now, but it needs more attention which is basically where the entire game sits right now.

This can be coincidental, but I also noticed in the Portal servers I was seeing much more revives occurring than in the AoW of 2042.

Each 2042 match I've played I've finished 1st in revives no matter if I have 2 or 10. I've even played a couple where there wasn't a single revive in the entire match.

However, in the Portal servers I've been playing I'm seeing the revive leaders constantly be in the double digits. I had some decent medic games last night with 9, 15, 17 etc. revived and never finished 1st.

I dont think this will be like Cyberpunk...give it a couple if months and DICE will work out the issues.

I do think over time Portal will be the main browser, provided they give the community ALL of the options to change everything (HUD, weapons, modes, etc.).

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.
