    Re: Elder Scrolls Online

I should have given away my code instead of trying it for myself. I was very unimpressed with the streams I saw awhile back.

I've now tried it for myself and its worse than I thought originally. I tried, but I just can't be bothered. I haven't deleted a game this fast before.

I got a key this weekend but I don't want to use it. Here it is for anybody that wants it.

Hopefully you enjoy the game more than I did.

I only got about an hour in last night. While I wasn't blown away I wasn't totally turned off. Not sure where all the disdain is coming from. Of course everyone has an opinion but I'm not going to let 1 beta weekend sway me 1 way or the other.

Anyways to the guys sharing keys, someone correct if I'm wrong, I believe your email address that you received the beta key in is tied to the actual key. So unless your giving your account info with the keys I don't believe sharing them exclusively will work.

It's not that I hate it; I thought it had some nice things about it. For me, I already have Guild Wars 2 and I just wouldn't be able to justify a monthly subscription fee. This game doesn't scratch any itch that I can't get with a game I already paid for. So, it's not bad, it's just not worth it.

I did not know that. So if anybody tried to use my key and failed, I'm sorry.

Nice. I thought it'd said over on the beta forums that the key was tied to your emial/login. The whold NDA blah blah. Maybe they were saying it so people wouldn't share.

Your key is tied to your login, but they sent another key in the email that was separate in case you hadn't put it in yet.

I gave my extra to someone in the guild who wanted to check the game out.

In terms of why it's getting (rightfully) hammered? They're holding back information on purpose to try to salvage their name. In terms of MMO games, it does nothing you can't find in any other game (with the other games being more polished/doing mechanics better.) In terms of TES games, it can't hold a candle to any of them.

It's purely below average-to-average and that's not something you shoot for in a game. It's not "LOLWORSTGAMEEVAR" category, but I can't think of a single reason to play the game - which bodes terribly for it.

Yea I had a little more time with it last night. And again while I wasn't completely discouraged by anything in particular, there wasnt much leaving me WANTING to come back. Normally betas, early releases, etc get me pumped especially for a game I was really looking forward to. The fact that I'm not chomping at the bit to play it as much as possible before time is up Monday says something.

It's kind of a bummer really. But I think it's just as much a sign I'm getting tired of the genre. I was never huge into TES, or MMOS but I played my fair share of WoW- launch through Lich King. WoW is not even a consideration these days considering how easy, mundane, insert "boring" adjective here, that game has become. And while I didn't hate GW2, nothing there drew me back.

Anyway, long winded rant aside I see where you were coming from. I'm still holding out hope retail will be better, but I'm fairly certain the sub won't justified, which sucks.

That's pretty much my experience as well. A mediocre Elder Scrolls game in mediocre MMO trappings. It reminds me of Redguard in that way, Bethesda saw the Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia franchises were popular and decided to try and wedge Elder Scrolls into it to make money and what they ended up with was a watered down Elder Scrolls in a mediocre shell of TR/PoP. Now they want WoW money, so they plop watered down Elder Scrolls into a mediocre shell of an MMO.

I received their little survey about my experience in the Beta weekend, went ahead and filled it out. I think they have an idea that they're facing an uphill battle due to some of the questions they listed when other beta games don't really ask those types of things.

My game summary: a highly generic, vanilla MMO with Elder Scrolls slapped across the title menu

My biggest gripe with the game is the grouping. Even when in a group it feels like you are playing solo.
                            NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
                            NCAAF: Ohio State
                            NFL: Minnesota Vikings
                            MLB: Chicago Cubs

NDA has officially dropped for the game.

Can't wait to see it get blasted and then fanboys (of which over half of them probably haven't played the game yet) blowing up comment sections. Much fun will be had.
