Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I like that meal plan, basically after doing a bunch of research I'm trying to assemble a master list for myself of the Acceptable foods to eat on my diet.. here is what I came up with so far.

Breakfast: Whole Grain Oats, not the Instant packet one. (what is an acceptable brand to look for? Is Quaker ok?)
Add in some Strawberries, Blueberries, dried Cranberries for some sweetness... or have in a separate serving.

Eggs, Softboiled, or Scrambled. (can also be eaten through out the day not just early)

Other Fruits for morning through mid-day: Black berries, Kiwi, Pineapple, Cantaloupe, Bananas, Pear, Orange.

Lunch, to Dinner meats - Lean Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast, Turkey Breast. Lean Ground Beef.

    Flank Steak

    Fish: Tuna, Salmon, Pollock?

Veggies: (always fresh produce try to stay away from canned veggies) Broccoli, Cauliflower, Peas, Corn, Carrots.

try to stay away from Salad dressing, if I'm making a Salad what is the best kind of Lettuce to use (in your guys' opinion?)

Other sides: Brown Rice, Whole wheat Pasta, Black Beans

Snacks: Raisins, Dried Fruits (is Sun-Maid an ok brand? I noticed a lot of sugars is that natural or artificially added?)

Peanut Butter (obviously the natural kind not the sugary junk)

Yogurt (Low-Fat, any health brand suggestions?)

    Nuts, Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts.

Drinks: WATER, unsweetened Tea, Skim/Raw Milk.

obviously this is just a very Bare list, if you have anything to add please help me out.. but do you think this is an ok beginner's outline of eating healthy to follow?

Yeah looks pretty solid mate. Gotta watch out for the sugar content in some of those "diet" yogurts etc and cottage cheese is a great protein hit that can be eaten in a few different ways.

Personally i'm a bit carb sensitive which is why i'm mostly on eggs, lean meat, nuts and salad. Nothing wrong with things like oats and wheat bread though i just personally i lose fat quicker without em for the most part.

Personally like cos lettuce because it has more flavour (if that is even possible for lettuce aka "the water of foods") and olive oil mixed with vinegar is a good healthy dressing imo and some of the newer no fat / no carb ones have a good nutritional profile despite probably containing a few nasties.

Is it wrong that i think some of the foods on this site look delicious (even if they are deadly)?

Really thinking about buying the P90X kit.

Am I going to need anything other than the kit, like dumbbells or any other equipment not supplied?

I think you'll have to get your own pull-up bar along with freeweights. Maybe resistance bands, too.

I have it but I couldn't really tell you about it because I haven't used it other than ab workout part which is really good.

The only reason I haven't used it is because you need a pull-up bar or some place where you can attach a band to.

p90x is the workout i am on and i will tell you i have never been in better overall shape/health in my life. i am 32 and was a d1 athlete and was never in this kind of shape. granted i now eat better but still. anyway, to your question, what you will need is a pullup bar, some dumbells or resistance bands, a chair or stool and EFFORT. you have to put in the work but man i swear by this program. personally i have a power tower as opposed to one of the doorway pullup bars but that should be good enough. i also bought a set of selectable dumbells and while expensive i will tell you they are well worth it if you are low on workout space in your home. if you push yourself you will see great results and in a hurry. i converted the vids and put them on my ipod too so the cardio/plyometric type workouts i just head over a field by my house and do them outside. if you have any questions i am more than happy to help bro and good luck! oh yeah, if you get resistance bands, i recommend bodylastics (google). they are the thickest, most quality product i have ever seen. the clips on the ends of the bands are metal and the hook on the handles are metal as well. they have a lifetime guarantee where they will replace them if they snap free of charge. i don't think they will snap tho, they are that nice...

Haha, definitely thought of that, but I think this time I'm actually going to buy the program.

I so far know I need an elastic band, and the optional dumbbells. I wonder just how to work the pull up bar...

Anyways, how does this work? 1 hour a day, but 12 DVD's for different things... Do you just decide what you want to improve on your body and then just follow 3-4 DVD's for the time being or what is really the scoop?

Did that workout last night for the first time in a while (I was just focusing on the arm and core for a while but I am starting the whole program from the start again this week) and my legs have been sore all day...feels amazing. I would definitely recommend it Baumy.

There is a whole schedule that they give you to keep you on course throughout the program (along with a nutritional guide) You could decide (as I did for a while) to only do certain DVD's for areas you think you need to improve on but it would probably be best to start with the whole program.
