Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I hate when I spend many efforts teaching/explaining something to somebody (in this specific case, I'll refer to myself and my math students), and then eventually they'll come to me and ask if this "alternate" way of going about something is okay (something that they learned online, from a tutor, friend, etc.), and I sit there in awe as I say, "Yes... in fact, that's what I've been teaching you the last two weeks."

The problem with school is students only bother actually learning when they intend on wanting to learn, meaning school can feel very autonomous for them and they don't bother investing what is being learned because it is not a moment of choice for them. However, when you are being tutored or looking up information online, learning is invested by a factor of free will.

This probably happens in other walks of life that you can all relate to. It also relates to me as a coach to my players, and the easiest to really think about is when parenting your children. How things go in one ear and out the other until another experience not only wakes them up about the lesson, but that it might take that for them to even realize that's what you've been teaching them all along.

Just went to lunch with my wife to watch the first half of the Pats game and when I got my lunch the dude next to me was staring at it and was watching me eat. Then talked to his buddy and said it looked good.

I am from the school of the peek at the neighbors food but don't gawk at it. Honest, no bs, I asked him if he was sniffing my buffalo wings and he said, "yeah man, they smell so good!"

That is wayyyy beyond my peek rule. That angered my blood. Peek, don't gawk and sure has heck don't sniff my delicious buffalo wing filling the air. CREEP

When I hire somebody, they work two weeks, then hit the bricks without an explanation or anything. First time I've had that happen in the two years I've been over hiring....so yeah, it's aggravating to me.

Lol, so I found out more alleged details about why I was let go. Much diff than the reasons they were giving when actually informing me I was being let go. Talk about cowards. Basically they're using me as a scapegoat for all their problems. The old "blame it on the new guy" excuse to cover their own selves from incompetence. They had no idea what they were doing before I even got there. Don't know how I could've had anything to do with issues stemming several months before I arrived...

Talking to some family about it and they agreed about the scapegoat and even mentioned knowing of companies who don't just do that, but hire someone and fire them before they complete specified number of hours to qualify for joining the union. I was getting up there in hours. Maybe it was their plan all along. It'd make sense given everything that's happened since the second or so week I was there.

Sucks this job shows up on my resume and could get called in future for references without my permission, but I at least left on as good terms as I possibly could. People out there just honestly can't be good people and judge and pick issues with you before you even say one word to them.

                Actually it was Luthor Corp.

LOL but really, don't wanna say name itself, but basically their job was SUPPOSED to be investing in small businesses and helping them grow. My job was supposed to be assisting a select group of those clients. They claimed those clients backed out... All went downhill for me from there.

I really don't know how or why they didn't like me. How could I possibly get on someone's bad side before even saying "hi"..... It's a big eye opener and learning moment for me though. Knowing the type of environment I better avoid. Maybe I'm just in wrong industry. Should've worked in law enforcement like so many people who know me suggested(simply cause they say I give off that vibe... Whatever that means)

lol, I don't even think it has anything to really do with actual appearance, who knows.

They're now out of nowhere starting to take away pay now too lol. They're saying I claimed more hours than I should've(I didn't, but they never brought this up before). Are they actually allowed to take money OUT of my account if they "overpaid"? Because I think they might try doing this next. Seems like they're backtracking now and trying to create problems out of nothing.

From the way you described that job, you should've been looking for another one from the first day you were there.

The first few weeks I attributed that issue to the manager being fired and most others on vacation, but in hindsight, looks like that manager being fired had nothing to do with any of the issues.

I mainly kept it because it was a contracted position paying about 30% more than others and was close to me. Obviously it was too good to be true.

Looking for new stuff now, but just don't know how much luck I'd have if this position is my most recent employer and might be getting reference checked without my permission.

Anyone have any comments on job agencies? Might check one out, but not too familiar with it. Mainly just for temp stuff next few months to take me to end of the year.
