I've been on their end where you may like a candidate but simply not completely 100% sold on them. If that's the case, they should just move on instead of stringing you along with false hope.

I don't think they've hired anyone else. They would've easily told you so.
Yeah, it's strange, never had this happened before. The ad for this position is still advertised, so I don't know exactly what they are trying to do.

Anyway, I have moved on, as it's likely not going to happen, and also I have read and heard some bad things about this company. But being unemployed, you can't be too picky. Hopefully there will be some other opportunity.

Several weeks ago I applied for a job online. A couple of days later, one of the top guys emails me about a phone interview. So we schedules the interview, it goes well and they have me coming for an in-person interview a couple of days later, they seemed to be trying to rush things...

So I have a panel-of-3 interview (which seemed to go very well), and a week later I get an email from one of the guys at the interview, saying that they think I'd be a great fit for the company, however at this point they are going through some "transition" process and not sure when they will be able to hire. So I email back and ask them to let me know when they are ready.

Then after several days I decide to see what's going on, so I email the guy back telling him I need to know where things stand so I can evaluate another job offer (which I didn't even have). So the guy emails back after 3 days saying that again he thinks I would be a good fit, but they still don't know exactly when they will be ready to hire, and that if I have another job offer I should feel free to take it.

So I emailed back and told him to let me know when they are done with the "transition" process and if I'm still available, then we can talk.

It's been a week since then and I don't really expect to hear from them ever again. What's bothering me is that at the beginning they were rushing rushing rushing to get me in for an interview. What was the point of that? I don't know what to make of the situation, but me guess is that they had already hired someone and not sure about that person and trying to keep me around just in case. Or they're just toying with people.

I have pretty much used every curse word I have for them, which I would not post here. But it sucks.
I know it totally sucks, especially when you were looking forward to an offer, but don't over-think it or let it affect your self-esteem. Like others, I have been on your side and on the opposite side of this type of thing. It sucks, but being on the other side of things gave me perspective. A lot of times, it's an issue with HR or management, and has nothing to do with you. For example, at a prior job we wanted to bring in a candidate that was really good and did nothing wrong, but there was a management change going on and at the last minute, a hiring freeze got implemented and no one could make any offers. So, due to no fault at all of the candidate, we had to leave them in limbo (thankfully, they ended up taking another offer which is actually the best thing they could have done).

Anyway, sometimes it's absolutely nothing to do with you and just internal inefficiencies or other things getting in the way. Or bad timing. It just stinks that some companies don't do a good job of explaining why they're keeping people dangling like that, or else for whatever reason they can't communicate that.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. Hopefully I can find something because being unemployed sucks...especially if it's been a while. I don't have as much networking as I would like to, and seems like that's the only way to find a job here (I hope I'm wrong). Might have to go back to my native country if nothing changes. We'll see.

I can't believe I haven't posted this before, because this applies to like my everyday life:

When a curb that can easily fit two cars has one car parked right in the middle, especially in front of my house.

And it always seems to be some self-entitled BMW elitist prick. No offense.
