Beers I've had recently:
- New Glarus Spotted Cow: Was in Wisconsin for Easter weekend and had one on tap. I really wanted to like it but was unfortunately disappointed.
- Leinenkugel's Classic Amber: Got one on tap at Old Chicago last week, despite the fact that my friend (who has very similar beer preference to me) did not like it. I regretted ordering it, very bitter and not much else to it in my opinion.
- Dundee Honey Brown: Ordered because the tap handle looked interesting. Not great but not bad. A very unmemorable beer.
- Shock Top: I was down in St. Louis last weekend and toured the A-B Brewery. We got two free samples at the end, and this was my first one. Absolutely terrible and I couldn't finish it quickly enough.
- Michelob Amber Bock: Also had this at the A-B tour. It was decent, considering I'm not yet much of a dark beer drinker. However, it was nothing special.
- Schlafly Hefeweizen: We also toured the Schlafly Bottleworks. They are a microbrewery in St. Louis and one of my new favorites. The Hefeweizen wasn't any better than other hefeweizens I have had (Erdinger is still my favorite), but it was good.
- Schlafly Bavarian Wheat: Unfortunately, I have discovered that this beer is only available on tap at the Bottleworks. If I could have this on a regular basis it would be my new favorite. It was similar to the Hefeweizen but had a different finish, leaving a nice spice taste in the mouth.
- Schlafly Scotch Ale: This was a seasonal of theirs that we were able to snag one of the three remaining six-packs of at the brewery. I didn't like it on the first couple sips, but I decided to really give it a chance. I finally found the caramel flavor, and when I did, I liked it. Not my favorite, but definitely one of my preferred when it comes to full-bodied beers.
- Schlafly Kolsch Ale: I had a bottle of this last night from a mix-a-six from the brewery that my friend and I split. It's a medium bodied ale that I really like. Easy to drink and a nice flavor.
I also still have a No. 15 (Dunkelweizen - the Bavarian wheat is more or less a hybrid of this and the Hefeweizen, I believe) and a Summer Helles-style Lager to try.
