Those weights will work fine. You might need to hit pause during some of the workouts to change weights (esp. shoulders and arms) but that's not a big deal.

With the pullup bar definitely get a door frame one rather than straight. I have the Iron Gym Extreme and it works great.

You really dont even need free weights. I just have 2 bands of different resistance levels.

        Couple questions for P90X veterans....

I've been doing the workouts with my wife for 3 weeks now. However, Yoga just doesnt cut it for me. Instead I've been using the elliptical machine at the gym on that day. Will that hurt my results?

We got the iron gym pull up bar. However, it wont fit in our door ways and the one door way it does fit, the door way feels likes it going to collapse. Thus, we havent been using it. Instead we've been using the bands and free weights. Will this hurt our results.

Finally, the only thing we've done with our diet is modify our portions and cut out junk food. Will we still see results?

Thanks for any help you can provide....

I'm also worried about the door frame just collapsing. I'm working out at a POS apartment. I might just have to open the front door and do it for all to see. I assume they would have made that frame stronger.

no not really. The Yoga workout is great for improving flexibility and core strength but it is a bit long. I often swap it for cardio x or go for a run on that day myself

my wife uses the bands and is having fantastic results so it will def still work. The bands aren't anywhere near as hard as real pullups but they still work really well so i wouldn't worry about it too much

any improvement is better than nothing and it really depends on your goals. If you want to get 100% out of the program i'd prob suggest following the nutrition guide but if you eat healthy, control portions, limit junk food / soda / alcohol etc you will have excellent results at the end of the 12 weeks. I think this sort of thing works better as an overall lifestyle change rather than a quick fix. The more sustainable it is for the long term the better chance you'll have lasting positive results imo.

So does anyone recommend a creatine supplement? I saw in one of the guides it recommended using a creatine supplement.

Would something like this suffice? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Fortr...60-ct/10899023

The recovery drink that they recommend has creatine in it....so yeah, creatine is definitely ok to use with p90x.

Can anyone recommend a good recovery drink?

                    These are two I found
                    http://www.powerbar.com/products/12/...RY_Orange.aspx
                    http://www.amazon.com/Gatorade-Perfo.../dp/B001E4Q5AU

Plus I was recommended the Boost energy recovery drink.

Are these what they are wanting you to use?

Those will do the job. I just use ON Chocolate whey protein in a cup of skim milk and a banana for mine but those will def do the trick.

My wife and I have a nasty headcold plus i also have tonsilitis as well so we are going to have to take a week off i think. We tried doing a workout and just couldn't cut it so there's not much point untill we are better.

Yep, it is pretty easy to lose weight when you are dedicated to it. Congrats!

I did plyo once when I was sick and it almost killed me. Just started up Phase 2 last night. Chest/Shoulders/Tri's is tough.

                            Re: P90X

I tweaked my knee a little bit during plyo this morning so had to cut it short. I had a sharp pain when going down in a squat. The pain faded quickly when I stood back up and it feels fine now. My wife, who's a PT, thinks my kneecap was rubbing. She said it usually happens when your muscles are really tight or there is a muscle imbalance.

Next week is recovery week for me though so I might skip legs on Friday and focus on stretching for the next week and half to get ready for phase 2.

I was really discouraged this morning when I had to quit. Legs are such a big part of this program that it's going to be tough to do it right on a bum knee.

I'm still lost on what I should use as a recovery drink. I can't afford the official beachbody stuff. The two I had listed above aren't the right carb to protein ratios.

Are you trying to cut down or build muscle?

If trying to cut try Whey Protein works...Mine lasted me a month at 26 bucks.

If your trying to build...Go to your wal-mart and get a mass gainer drink. Find the most amount of calories/nutrients (Protein) with not a lot of sugar. Lasts me 2 weeks for 12 bucks.
