I've cleaned my diet up a lot over the past two weeks. I've been running and lifting, and I feel great but I want something more.

I've NEVER heard a bad word about P90x from people who finished the workout.

I am pretty excited, to say the least. I know it'll suck, but I also know that it will be worth it.

I don't plan on getting all the supplements, though. I'll get the whey and I'll attempt to follow the diet plan - I'll never eat bad, but I may not strictly follow their plan.

30 pounds lost and the changing up of my body composition in 3 months - shouldn't be that bad.
I started this and really like it so far. I will say I was a bit intimidated by everything I had heard and expected it to be a real challenge, but I have found it to be very doable and actually enjoyable (I know that sounds weird, but it's challenging in a fun way).

I have changed what I am eating, but not using their stuff. Have fun!

Well, guys... This thread will stay alive because I bought P90x today.

It should arrive within five to seven business days and my goal is to start on March 7, 2011. My son's first birthday is that weekend so I figured I'd wait, plus I want to drop about five or 10 pounds before beginning.

I am pretty nervous, to be honest. I am also excited... I know that if I stick to it, my body will experience a huge transformation. When I work hard, I see results quick. I am looking forward to the challenge.

The goal is 225-230 by June, so I'm looking at a 25 to 30 pound weight loss.

      Wish me luck!

My max bench went up 25 pounds and it was the most I've ever done after just one phase.
I've been trying to eat as much protein as possible, and have been eating better in general. I don't expect any really large gains though, I just want to have gained about 10-15 pounds by the end of phase 3. At the very least, I'm getting in great shape though.

Make sure you eat right, but don't make yourself miserable with the eating. If you are following the workouts, you will see results, bottom line. Eating right and following their program with make those results dramatic.

When I was doing it I gave myself at least one "cheat" meal a week. I didn't always use that cheat meal, but I knew if I wanted to have pizza or I needed to eat fast food in pinch, that it wasn't going to destroy my results and that I shouldn't feel guilty about that meal. I lost 20 pounds pretty quickly on p90x following that plan.

            Good luck bro!

I'm in the middle of the first recovery phase (Week 4) and workout-wise, so far so good. The workouts are kicking my ***, but I'm able to do most all the reps now which I wasn't even close when I started. I've noticed a little more definition in my arms and my legs feel stronger. I'm able to do twice as many pushups now compared to what I did in the pre-test.

Here's my problem though, DIET. It's been killing me the past 2 weeks. I've eaten like crap and fallen back slightly to my old habits of eating (too many sugars and too much on my plate). I HAVE to buckle down on this and have started again over the past few days. I've probably dropped 6lbs. in these first 4 weeks, just because my diet has been poor lately. I know that I should've dropped at least double the weight by now based on how hard I'm working out.

I think I put too much pressure on myself all day to eat right that if I slip up once, I fall back into the trap. Overall though, P90x is definitely worth the money. You'll be sweating your *** off and you'll notice results pretty quickly.

Get use to hearing Tony Horton's lame jokes though. Superman! Banana!

Glad to hear you're seeing some results!

The diet part won't be hard for me, as I like to eat healthy for the most part. It's definitely going to take a lot of discipline, but it can be done. I think the key to it is not getting down when you eff up. I tend to get down on things and then I either think I need to start over or I give up altogether.

Keep up the good work bro!

My P90x came in the mail today... So tonight is a night of beer and pizza. My wife and kid are out of town for a couple of days, so I figure I better get some "me" time while I can, and before I start this program. I am excited but am looking at tonight as one last chance to let loose a little bit, because I have a feeling that once I start this program, my life (and diet) will become pretty structured. I am enjoying the Thunder and Magic on ESPN and am trying to find a good movie to watch for later.

                    Re: P90X

I just finished my first work out, did okay on the fit test but failed miserably at the push ups.

It's weird, too. I am a fairly strong dude and have been an athlete for nearly all of my life. When I play basketball, I am constantly told how hard I am to move in the paint.

I am 6'6" and weigh 262 pounds, which is about 30 pounds heavier than I want to be. I am doing the classic, rather than the lean program. My main goals are to follow the nutrition plan to the best of my ability and stay off of the scale for the first 30 days.

The workout wasn't bad... I felt weak doing push ups from my knees, but at least I was getting 20 reps in before failure. My core is definitely weaker than I thought it was, but all in all, I felt the first workout wasn't too bad. I am using the resistance band rather than the pull up bar.

I attempted Ab Ripper X but only made it halfway through... I didn't give up, but my lower back kept me from doing a lot of the exercises. I'll try again tomorrow and will have the plyo workout.

I just have to keep hitting play... Things will get better.

                      This.

It's tough to begin with but the improvements come early and often if you really apply yourself. When i did P90X (the classic same as you) I went from barely being able to 8 proper pushups to being able to max out at over 30 in the 3 months. Ab ripper is a killer at first but that will improve pretty quickly as well.

One thing that is great about the program is like you touched on it really shows how weak your core can be even if you are considered a pretty strong dude. I've had friends who can bench etc a tonne of weight and are pretty ripped but they found these workouts pretty brutal as well.

Just keep going man, it's definitely worth it!

I don't know how good you are in the cardiovascular department, but if you aren't too great, tomorrow will probably whip you. Plyometrics is tough as hell the first time around, I was taking what seemed like 15-35 second breaks in between each and every exercise. Just stick with it though, the 2nd time around around I was able to get through plyo without ever needing to pause at all.

I also had/still have trouble on Ab-Ripper X because my hips keep popping, and because the strain it puts on your lower back at times.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, bro.

I just finished plyo and it WAS TOUGH. I found myself not finishing exercises (usually stopped with about 10 seconds left) but didn't take too many extended breaks. One thing that really helps me is Tony saying how it's okay to take breaks. I feel like I have to keep up with everyone or I won't see results... Which I know isn't true.

Some of the movements were hard for me catch on to. I was watching pretty diligently but at times I felt like I had multiple lapses and just couldn't figure out the body placement of some of the workouts.

All in all, I feel pretty good... It's easy to get down, but at the end of the day, I hit play and went all the way through. My legs are pretty wobbly right now and I don't look forward to waking up tomorrow.

The next time will be better... Half way through I was thinking, "Maybe plyo isn't for me and I should do the cardio one instead..." but I didn't and I feel pretty good about that.

Not to ramble too much, but I am finding that the nutrition plan they laid out is kind of tough to follow. A lot of it is common sense, but I am just learning to cook and following their nutrition plan may take some getting used to. I am still eating well, but I did feel kind of helpless when I was grocery shopping earlier tonight.

Thanks again for the response and encouragement.

I just finished up todays plyo myself, and even though I'm in phase two I still struggle with it at times. You'll definitely notice improvements on your next go though, for me, I noticed I wasn't running out of breath like I was the first time around, which was the biggest Issue I had with plyo on my first go.

Look out for yoga too lol, I though it would be somewhat easy(compared to rest of p90x), just some stretching or whatever, but it was much tougher than I had anticipated.

I HATED the yoga workouts! I agree that it was much harder than expected but it's the sheer length of the workout and I found it relatively boring compared to every other workout. It is good for core strength and flexibility though so it's a necessary evil.

Bottom line: P90X is pretty tough and if you're not in good shape you'll struggle early but you can fight through it and will eventually get it.

It's one heck of a commitment too
