    Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

If you're eating at a deficit you wont be putting on mass. Eating enough protein will help to maintain what muscle you have while you cut.

Could stick with cereal and go with Kashi GoLean. They have a high protein/fiber cereal which doesn't taste horrible. Special K makes one as well but it doesn't taste as good to me. Eggs are another options. They're a cheap form of protein.

Outside of the lack of protein and as long as you're getting enough cals, you're diet plan looks good. If you have 700 cals to use from what you already posted, then getting the protein in there shouldn't be tough.

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. I was always under the impression that protein was more for just recovering the muscles, not actually retaining the muscle mass itself.

I'll try out that Kashi cereal this week as well.

Weight loss makes me angry. I hear I need fiber so I get Fiber One cereal, original style. Seemingly works great until someone warns me that it contains aspartame, apparently the worst food additive ever. Ugh! So then I planned to switch to Kashi Go Lean Crunch, but before I could even buy a box I'm warned about the soy proteins. I'm sick of it! All these sources telling me what NOT to eat, just tell me what TO eat damnit lol

that is very true. SO much conflicting info out there. I tend to not try to sweat the little things and try to get the basics down (eat well 90% of the time, exercise, drink lots of water etc) because honestly most of the things people spend their time worrying about makes bugger all difference if there diet etc isn't in check.

Ughh i've gained way too much weight recently, stuck in a place with nothing to do until I get up to college in a few weeks so been just sitting around besides around 30 minutes of shooting a basketball a day and eating. Up to 5'7" 175lbs, stomach is starting to show it a bit so gonna try to cut out some soda and snacks until I get up to FSU in a few weeks and can start working out at the gym everyday

              Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

So I''ve finally decided to start slimming down, and I figured I'd come join the OS weight loss club, as it were.

Started a little more than a week ago at ~6'7 and 270 pounds, and I've been laboring through Insanity and eating less. I mostly inadvertently followed an Intermittent Fasting diet anyway, so I think I'll jump on that bandwagon tomorrow.

Insanity destroyed me the first week, as I expected from dabbling in the program before, as well as reading impressions. I can see results in my performance though, as I am making it further and further into the workouts without having to stop for a break. Weighed myself on my first off day at 262, so there's some good progress there as well.

I struggled with the decision to commit to Insanity or try a less challenging program, but the short workouts combined with the lack of any extra equipment compelled me to try, and I'm glad I did. I feel better already. Add me to the lest of people who recommend the program.

lol i kicked cereal out awhile ago. I got a food scale and realized i was eating like 200-300 calories plus milk and was not happy. I think you're better off with eggs and some protein =)

Haven't had much time with house renovations (to try and sell the place) and work being a full platter and then some.

I am still hovering around 280. Once the house is done I will have more time to exercise..

I've really dropped the ball. I think I need some kind of spark to get me back on the right track. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's been two weeks since any posts in this thread. Any updates?

I've been off the wagon once again for a while. Dealing with a lot of things, none of them excuses but all of them trying to convince myself that they are. Any of you know what that's like?

I want to use this as a kind of accountability for myself, if only in my own mind. I'm really waking up to the fact that I weigh the same as I did at the beginning of the year - when my resolution (that I thought I was doing a decent job at still keeping) was losing weight. Sure, I've been keeping a great food diary and have kept track of my weight all year long, but I haven't actually lost anything.

I just need some motivation. Let's see if I can find it.

                              Good luck to you all!

I think my official beginning weigh-in was 232. I'm down to 222 now which is good overall but I've stopped trying for another month. I was actually down to 218 when I ceased effort. I have a friend that is moving to NYC and she takes me out to eat all the time, so when she's gone I should be able to lose a good deal of weight, when that times come I'll start trying again
