Good read about why people shouldn't be worried about the nuclear plants in Japan, sans some extreme explosion or tampering or 1 in a million type event. I was waiting for my father to send me something - he worked at a nuclear plant in Vermont for 25+ years, so I figured sooner or later someone would send him something -

I've been marveling at all of the sensationalism about the impending nuclear apocalypse, I've had to explain the differences between this and Chernobyl to many friends. Hopefully more people read that article or something like it.

Another explosion at plant number 2 and a 4th plant is on fire now. Japan ordered all citizens to leave the area as far as 19 miles away. There is now a fear some of those plants have cracks in them because every time they add water to it, the water level isn't rising. And at some of the plants, the rods are half way exposed completely out of water.

Yeah, the explosions are whats causing the problems, not the reactors themselves leaking. If these keep happening and the structural damage gets too great, it won't matter how sophisticated the actual technology is inside because there won't be anything to hold it in, and most of the **** will be broken, anyway.

Hopefully the explosions stop and "technology" can save the day, again.

Yeah it almost looks like a Hollywood movie. It's the kind of feeling I got when I first saw the planes hit on 9/11. It's like your mind just can't process it so you think "it looks so Hollywood but I know it's happening!"

sensationalism sells, that what happens when you have 3 24 hour news channels. If you want to hear the actual news Reuters is the only way to go, they just report the news, everyone else spins it.

Compared to everything else the boat looks like its in fairly good shape, as if it was photoshoped into the picture to sit on top of the house.
