Well you do know some people could've seen everything without much of the "media spin" if they watched it on Tru TV that is, unless with the name change they've also wiped out the court programming during the day in which case you speak truth to power there.

Exactly. The repercussions of public scrutiny might outweigh a seven year prison stint and death by lethal injection. I still remember the article someone on here posted about O.J. being denied service at a restaurant because of his allegations that happened over 15 years ago.

It won't matter that the verdict on Casey was "not guilty." Hell, Caylee's real murderer could step forward and confess, and Casey might still not hear the end of it. What matters is the perception, and how you're thought about afterward. Any time I hear the name Jim Joyce, I only think about one thing. I love him as an umpire, but to everyone he will be "that guy that blew the perfect game."

I always wanted to write a screenplay on this matter... about a guy who is framed, wrongly accused, and charged of rape; and after being set free due to the real rapist coming forward and admitting his crimes, much of the story would be done about how you are accepted back into your world again, after spending months away as somebody you weren't. To the public, though, you can't be trusted again. You won't be looked at the same. That's just the nature of the beast, and it's unfortunate.

But really, here's the thing... I believe that there are really only two primary reasons people are sent to jail: to pay for what they did, and to prevent them from doing it again. I think that Casey will be heavily scrutinized, as I said. I think there is potential out there that she will be facing the worse end of the deal against the public (as we always say, the death penalty is sometimes the "easier way out"). So for now, I'll scratch off the "consequences" reason. And secondly, I would consider this murder to be specific to Caylee (which is so, very sad). I don't know who did it, but it is my firm belief that if Casey did it, I don't see her going off and killing someone else later down her path in life. Obviously I can't enter the mind of a killer, but that's just how I feel. In short, her being free isn't the worst thing that could happen. I'd rather see her get away with it, than have a truly innocent version of her be given the death sentence (for the reasons I stated above).

we really need to change the way jurors are selected for trials in this country.

I'm guessing he's forming a hindsight opinion about the judges, thinking that they weren't "wise" enough to decide that she was guilty.

This case is a shame but much greater judicial tragedies have happened with no outcry in sight.

I doubt money would be an issue.

However she has a lot of other problems. Like crazy kooks who are probably plotting to kill her or harm her or at least harass her and make her life hell. Potential paparazzi following her everywhere. She probably can't live anywhere near Florida. Will have to change a bunch of stuff to keep her identity, phone numbers and home address secret.

Still beats going to prison for life or worse the death penalty.

I agree with all of your post but why wouldn't money be an issue? Her family isn't wealthy and she was a working girl before all of this. About the only future she has is in the porn world..

I dunno I have a feeling she'll be able to tell her story in a book or something, maybe do some weird things with media to get her some dough. Maybe do some naked pictures or even an adult movie or something.

But maybe you're right, after the fifteen minutes of "fame" she won't have much of anywhere to turn to for cash.

Well, it depends on who you are. That was part of the point of my previous post. Suffering comes in many different packages for people. Some people can't stand the heat of freedom if it means always having a constant breathing down your neck, whether you really did it or not. She will never be truly "free" again.

She is going to make money out of this. Networks are going to be lining up to get an exclusive interview with her. People are obsessed with this case and the amount of viewers that are going to tune in is going to lead to a crazy amount of advertising dollars.

Its actually great business from a network perspective.
