    Re: Hurricane Irene

Waiting for this thing to hit here tonight.

I don't even know what to expect. At first I was leaning towards it slamming us, now it seems to have weakened. But I don't want to let down my guard even if it's weakened; it's still a hurricane.

Preparing to hunker down shortly here.

Im preparing for this storm, probably getting it tomorrow morning. Everything is put away outside. Im charging my phone and my ipod and mp3. I dont think we will have to evacuate where I am located, but am ready for no power tomorrow.

They city of New Haven is locking down my neighborhood, I live right on the water. There is no mandatory evacuation but most of the streets the city is closing are in my neighborhood. I'm getting the eff out of here shortly.

Long Island is definitely going to take the brunt of this but it sounds like it'll still be miserable when it hits the CT shore.

Good ol' hurricane just got me out of working tonight as my manager doesn't expect it to be that busy. Not too shabby.

Suppose to dump 12 to 15 inches of rain throughout my state all day tomorrow.....All that water is going to come rushing down all these mountains. Ski resorts up here is going to get messed up big time.

I remember Hurricane Gloria in '85. This will be a cake walk compared to that in CT. Though people are much more "dependent" on things now than they were then.

Freaking humid in Vermont.......clear skies. Plenty of fuel for Irene to feed off of when she comes up here tomorrow afternoon.

Creepy and cool looking at the same time. I bet watching a hurricane from space has to be awesome to see it moving across the ocean.

Only thing is this storm is so massive and moving so slow.

I called my relatives in Brooklyn, apparently they'll be okay and aren't going to evacuate. I did tell them to be extra careful and that i'll be thinking of them this weekend.
