      Re: Hurricane Irene

The place Im located didnt get affected much because of trees. We still have power. I havent been outside, but I know some roads might be flooded(especially, the road near our place).
The funny thing about this whole thing was that it had neighbors who never spoke to us when we said something to them previously, had them knocking on our doors and asking questions.

Been raining here for almost 10 hours, and now the wind is picking up. Hurricane party was an enormous letdown.

Yea we had about 40-50 mile an hour winds here in Maryland and a good 6 inches or so of rain but nothing major. Waiting for daylight to check my house for any damage.

As for death toll that was mentioned above. I heard numerous deaths were from surfers in the ocean during Hurricane. Have heard a few deaths here in MD are from trees falling on people. One was from a chimney that collapsed.

My future mother-in-law lost power as well as had her basement completely flood in Richmond. She also said that a lot of trees were down on Monument Ave., and that it looked like a warzone. Crazy.

Here in Blacksburg, we have a nice breeze with some overcast skies.

Rain has pretty much stopped. Still very windy, and they said will be be windy the rest of the day. I still have power, knock on wood.

Power flickered on and off...it's not terrible out, but it's rainy and windy. Seems more like a usual rainstorm than anything more severe, but still lots of debris down on the ground around my house and we still have a few hours left of this I believe.

Once again(in the DC Area)the hype was worse than the actual storm itself.

I said that from day 1. My GF was freaking out. We literally have enough batteries to power a small club for the weekend.

The Mayor just shut down our town. I really didn't want to be stuck inside all day. Ugh

                              Oh no question.

But the way it was being hyped up here, you would've thought we never had something like this happen in this area. We literally get every and any type of Weather possible so folks here should be used to it by now.

All we got here was alot of rain and strong wind, which we get these types of storms a few times a year.
