Cant explain how or why they work but they do. You can them at walmart, Target etc or amazon. I use them for my Bananas and they never turn brown.

It's absolutely no different over here. My heart sinks when I go to the supermarket and see a massively overweight person with a trolley full of sugary soft drink and some overweight kids in tow. A vicious cycle I guess.

I dont know how Europe is worse. When I was in Paris I saw very few fat people.

I don't really understand why it's so hard for most people to give up, or limit their fast food intake. I understand it's tasty, but I haven't had a meal from a fast food chain, pizza, or chinese food for the past 4 months, and I've completely given up Soda as well.

It hasn't been that bad I've found some really healthy alternatives like Beef, Chicken dishes that I spice up with some seasonings, spices, fresh cut salsa and they actually taste pretty good. Then all you need to do is just find some kind of vegetables you can tolerate and voila you have dinner.

People also use the excuse they don't have the "time" to cook, but I call shenanigans on that as well my meals take anywhere from 10-20 minutes to prepare... and you can always prepare them early and store them in the fridge for later. I think people really are addicted to the greasy, trans fat fried stuff, and the sugary High Fructose beverages, that they really can't limit having those to once a week they need them almost every day.

I agree with you but I see why people do it. It might only take 10-20 mins to prep a healthy meal but it's still easier to drive through a fast food chain on the way home from work then it is to cook and clean up afterwards.

It takes discipline and consistency to stick it out for the time it takes to notice significant change and in this instant gratification age people just aren't willing to do that it seems, even if it is literally killing them. It's a damn shame too because eating well and exercising makes you feel so damn good its a drug of it's own but some people will probably never really experience it.

I'm glad I am a poor college student. I eat out for dinner once a week and will maybe twice a week get a breakfast burrito or something for lunch when I really am crunched on time. It is pretty much cancelled out though by frozen pizzas unfortunately. Glad I have the will power to only eat half of it. One of my biggest saviors I think is I only drink beer about once a week and 99% of the other stuff I drink during the week is water or 10 calorie diet V8 Splash. My soda intake is limited to when I drive back home which is every 3-4 weeks.

It definitely takes a little more effort to prepare home cooked meals, and especially so if the person is a full time student, or is constantly on the run to and from work.

However it's not a labor intense ordeal some people make it out to be. You really don't need to sweat it out for an hour in the kitchen, cooking some elaborate gourmet dish. If you keep it simple and stick with easy stuff frozen meats, steaming vegetables it's fairly easy.

Some advice I would give to someone trying to transition away from fast food and go healthier would be always plan ahead, and buy your groceries when you have some time off and buy in bulk. Then invest in a lot of those plastic Tupperware containers, Cook a bunch of food all at once. At least 5-6 meals, store in your plastic containers and you have your food for the next 2-3 days, which you can easily take with you on the go to work/school. Also the microwave, and oven is your friend for re-heating food... it's not the same as having it hot and fresh but that's just one of the sacrifices I make for eating healthy.

All very true and that's pretty much what I do (buy and cook in large amounts then freeze / reheat as needed) but people still use it as an excuse unfortunately.

My thing is I "cook" a lot of things that just involve adding water and throwing it in a pan on the stove for a while. "Homestyle Bakes", they are $3.00 and I get two meals out of them. The one I just looked at has 1,550 calories. So I guess 775 calories for a meal isn't to outrageous?

Yeah... Fast food is gross. The only thing that I can even stomach these days is off of the Fresco Menu from Taco Bell. Watching Food, Inc helps. Seeing how the meat looks when it arrives at these "restaurants" helps as well. I still eat meat, but it comes from my Father in Law's cows.

On a side note... Cilantro is my new best friend. We started growing it last summer in our little garden. It seems to make everything taste better. Sounds weird, but I even put it in cottage cheese. It's money.

I think the average male should eat about 2000 calories per day so it might be a little too much if your eating 3 meals like this plus snacks.

I read that the average person in the US eats around 300 too many calories per day. Over months and years that must really add up.
