I remember when journalists were responsible for what they reported.

As a former journalist, the saying used to be "get it first, but get it right." Now it seems to be "get it first, and if it's wrong, we'll update it later."

Journalism has grown into a shock value and rush to report any little thing. Sensitivities have been tossed out the window a long long time ago. Very little substantial and critical reporting is done anymore. Everybody looking to make a name for themselves anyway possible combined with ratings demands and this is what we get.

Yep. And then when everyone runs with the same wrong story, no one ever has to answer for it. It really sours the profession as a whole and until a group of them stands up against it, that will be the perception.

So this guy had something against his parents, so he takes his dad out at home and then goes to his mom's work place to kill her and then affect 29 other lives in the process? What a POS.....as bad as this sounds, couldn't he just wait for his mom to get home if he was going to kill her than taking out innocent children that couldn't defend themselves.

Only good thing I heard on the news is there must be some warning signs. Unless it's a complete loner, family members close to these psychopaths need to take action instead of living in denial.

I know its easy to bash news agencies but people need to realize that we are in a different time now. When the rule was "get it first, but get it right", there wasnt the internet and social media sites like Twitter. People bash the major networks when they are slow to report news that Twitter or less established news agencies on the net have reported. People bash them when they jump the gun and report incorrect tweets or reports in an effort to get the news first and please people who want immediate news.

I cant support sloppy reporting but I wont bash news agencies that mistakingly report information given by legitimate sources that happens to be incorrect.

Or worse when they find family members who come out and say something like "I'm not surprised", "I saw this coming", or "You got the right guy."

Fox or Fox owned papers like the Post are the only ones reporting that its Adam. The other news agencies say its Ryan.
