    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I started Insanity at the end of June. My starting weight was 190. I decided to eat clean and do the Paleo diet as well. I finished the program in Late August at 162 with definition in the abs. Since then I have started the program over and just completed the first 5 weeks and am down to 159.

My metabolism is going crazy I can't seem to maintain weight now. Starting to get too thin.

I would definitely recommend the program to anyone, but your joints do take a beating.

      Down 14lbs in three weeks.

Good clean eating and exercise included with that.

      Key for me is consistency.

Lost 7lbs first week, 0 lbs second week. In the past, I would look around and say, screw it, it's not working and head out for fast food and weight(yes, pun intended) for the next diet to come around after that second week.

Thanks goes to Fiddy and my wife. My wife secretly joined WW and now it's turned into an inner competition. No way I want her to lose weight and I struggle.

        Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I just joined Title Boxing Club with a co-worker of mine. My sisters introduced me to it - and after the first time this morning, I'm committed. I tried the stuff from home, but it's hard to be committed with the 3-month old, and just the day to day - and procrastination mentality I have.

So we signed on the dotted line - got a sweet deal and met the founder/owner, Danny Campbell (he was there for a session as well) - and we are going to go 2 days a week to start. Pretty inspirational stuff as well when Danny showed us a picture of a guy who started at 290 lbs a year ago, and now he's 175 lbs - then the guy he was showing us actually walked in the front door for his workout!

        Just awesome.

Just a quick update. I started another round of Insanity and today will mark my second week of month one. Down from 246'ish to 182 since March 18th of this year and feeling great. Still haven't had a soda since March or cakes, cookies, candy bars, chocolate etc. My only downfall lately is Publix Yogurt Icecream...lol

Still working to make 2013 my healthiest year in 15+ years and look forward to getting even healthier!

Broke my wrist while taking the bush hog off the back of my tractor. Just ordered DDP Yoga so that I don't fall behind.

Have to move towards more cardio now. Sucks as I was working on my boxing, wrestling and weight lifting lately.

                update..

my 2nd 90 day challenge, Bud90xV2 came to an end on November 2nd.

                July 22nd - November 2nd

                started at 208 - ended at 191!

                woo..

i missed my goal i posted on here by 1 pound (ill explain this in a second).

guys, i feel great. i still have some fat i need to tone up in my mid section, but other than that, feel great!

so overall, from April 9th to November 2nd i lost 72 pounds! im going to start up another 90 days this Sunday. im just doing cardio this week and letting my body recover a bit.

as for the missed goal LOL.. Sunday Oct 27th, a day after my cheat meal day. we ended up at our fav place Max n Ermas. didnt expect it, but i was going to get a salad etc. until i seen they started a burger challenge LOL. guy on the wall record time was 20 min flat. siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. i had to try it!

20 bucks for the 3 10 oz burger, with the works, and i mean the works. 3 buns and surrounded with chilli cheese fries.

yup, i finished it. 18 min 46 secs! if i could have burped around the 10 min mark, i would have had the last patty down in 3 mins. but nope, took me 8min 46sec to finish the last patty. boooooo..

gave me a 20 dollar gift card, a t shirt, a pat on the butt, and a framed picture on the wall. ha!

                oh and neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew record holder!

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd thats why i missed my goal LOL, but kind of worth it..

Just wondering if someone could give me some direction in terms of food to eat now that I'm a few days deep into my gym membership and plan to be dedicated to it.

My friend is who really got me moving forward into this so it's already a big help in terms of motivation and whatever else. He's been going for about a month now and has already shown really good progress. When it comes to food, he basically told me chicken, oatmeal, rice, fruit, frozen veggies and eggs.

                    My two questions are:

                    1) What else could/should I be adding to that

                    and

                    2) I'm only a tiny 145 pounds at the moment. This might be a stupid question, but should I be limiting myself to strictly those foods or do I have more "wiggle room" so to speak with what I eat since I'd like to add weight?

Wife and I purchased Focus T25 a few weeks ago. We are currently in week 4 of the program. It's amazing how far we've come since the first few days. The first 2 days I was dead on the floor afterwards. Haha. It's the perfect workout for us being that it's only 25 minutes a day. We have an 18 month old son so we usually get the workout in after he is put to bed.

I started day one at 190lbs, and 3 1/2 weeks later I'm currently at 182lbs. Definitely seeing some results! The whole eating better thing really isn't as hard as I thought it would be either. I've pretty much cut out junk food completely. We aren't being super restrictive with our diet, but are definitely making better choices. My eating habits were horrendous before. Constant snacking at all times of the day. Now I have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and then dinner. No binging. As intense as the first half of the program is, I can only imagine what the second half will be like.

It's definitely a program I recommend to anyone looking to get back in shape!

Eat real food (no processed/boxed stuff). Create your diet based of off foods you like but that also meet your current goals, be it gaining, or losing weight. The idea is to create a diet that you can maintain rather then creating one you cant (square peg/round hole). It takes some time to figure out what works for you.

I would however still keep a journal of what type of food you're eating (cals/nutrients). There are several online tools that can help with this to make things easier, but its a great way to educate yourself and keep your diet/goals in line.

Didn't want to start a new thread. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with the ProForm ellipticals. Specifically I'm trying to score a ProForm StrideClimber 600 for around $100. Seeing they had sold new for 5-600 at one time.

                          Looks similar to this:

First thing to do is find out what your daily or weekly macros should be. Find which better suits you.

I assume you're looking to gain weight, trim the body fat at the same time? You should look into clean foods that are high in protein. Also eat above your daily calorie intake. Since you'll be eating clean this will prevent you from gaining fat while bulking.

Try something along the lines of an added 100-200 calories per day. You also have to take into account the calories you're burning. That's where learning how to manage your macros comes in.

This tool here can be helpful.
Calculate EXACTLY how many calories & macros you need while bulking (weight gain), cutting (weight loss), or maintaining (TDEE). Lean bulking, leangains, keto, or standard calorie calculator. Gain muscle and lose fat.

Again, it all comes down to what best fits your needs. It will be hard at first, but the payout at the end is well worth it.

                            Good luck!

Question for anyone here who has used the Insanity program. Cold weather is starting to roll up in the Northeast. Which means getting out of bed on those cold mornings to hit the gym before work because that much more difficult.

Would you consider Insanity to be a suitable replacement for the cardio I would get in during the warmer months? Mainly row and treadmill work.

This would save me a ton of time for the nights I do weight training at my gym. I could easily fit that in after work and still be home at a reasonable hour.
