Man i'm tired of working out at my gym. I'm contemplating cross-fit to get me shredded but my god $150 per month like do I resort to Gofundme.com or something? Is cross-fit worth it?

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I've never priced cross fit. That price sounds insane. I'm only using my gym because I'm obligated to pay until November when I ship out.
I really only run, pushups, crunches/situps, and some other core workouts with light weight.
Hate having to fight to get a decent tredmill, but running outside in the Alabama summer heat is brutal.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
i see value in joining for a couple of months, learning some new exercises, having a trainer there to check your form and give you tips. but then you can go back to your regular gym and do 90% of the same exercises yourself. there are actually plenty of Crossfit places that will post their workout of the day on their website - so it's just a matter of knowing the exercises.
most of them will give you a free trial class. go and check it out yourself. i never did sign up for the whole month, but i did the free class and "borrowed" two new exercises into my routine just from that.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Just started a second round of Insanity after finishing the first round awhile back. Along with eating healthier, running and other exercises I've went from 242 lbs March 19th to 188 lbs currently. Never thought I'd see a size 32 pants or a Large shirt again in my life. I just bagged up all of my old 38 pants and XXL shirts. Felt pretty damn good!Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Awesome work man. Nothing feels better than having to dump old clothes. I actually went as far as donating some of my bigger clothes as incentive to not every fall off the wagon again. I've already had to buy a whole new wardrobe as it is, and it's a great feeling.

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Started replacing my dinner with a healthy smoothie. I spent a while trying to find a recipe that sounded good while still being healthy. Came across the Green Monster Smoothie.
2 cups spinach
1 cup fat free milk
1/2 cup fat free plain yogurt
1 tbsp. peanut butter
1 banana
Ice cubes
Blended this bad boy up, and came away pleasantly surprised. It looked quite nasty by my standards, but it basically tasted like a peanut butter and banana shake. Way healthier than most of the stuff I typically eat for dinner, and it's quite filling as well. That was my biggest issue, but it keeps me satisfied for hours.
I'm going to try replacing the skim milk with something like almond milk next time. Highly recommended for you guys that are smoothie virgins like I was.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Well, dinner isn't the proper word I suppose. It's at dinner time, but where I work overnights, it's more or less a late breakfast after working out for me. My idea of meals has been all screwed up since going to overnights a few years ago.

MusclePharm's Combat is pretty good. Really like Syntha-6 from BSN, but you'll have to consider the amount of fat it has for your macros.
Hard to believe I haven't chimed in in last year's thread or this year's thread since I joined the military. It's done wonders for me, even with this hectic schedule. I just ran my first 5K ever and it felt great.Comment
