Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I would do the two months and then see what you think. Maybe do those exercises on your off days or something.

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
First thing to do is find out what your daily or weekly macros should be. Find which better suits you.
I assume you're looking to gain weight, trim the body fat at the same time? You should look into clean foods that are high in protein. Also eat above your daily calorie intake. Since you'll be eating clean this will prevent you from gaining fat while bulking.
Try something along the lines of an added 100-200 calories per day. You also have to take into account the calories you're burning. That's where learning how to manage your macros comes in.
This tool here can be helpful.
Calculate EXACTLY how many calories & macros you need while bulking (weight gain), cutting (weight loss), or maintaining (TDEE). Lean bulking, leangains, keto, or standard calorie calculator. Gain muscle and lose fat.
Again, it all comes down to what best fits your needs. It will be hard at first, but the payout at the end is well worth it.
Good luck!
Also, any recommendations when it comes to something like protein powder?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Look for low fat/carbohydrates w/ a high protein (over 20 grams).
I prefer whey protein powder myself. Great for post workout shakes.
Figure out the price point you're looking to spend and research the brands that fit your budget and credentials listed above. Stick with brands who have been around a bit.

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I use ON..both whey and casein (I mix with just water, not milk). Casein is more like an actual milk shake in texture (thick, even with just water) but its slow digestive. I think thier formula for whey/casein both have about 6g of carbs per serving, so it's not too bad. ON is a bit pricey though..its gone up in price by about $15 in the last few years, but it does last a while and it's still a good fill in when you need to get some food down quickly.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Started the routine put together by Pavel Tsatsouline in the book Enter The Kettlebell today. The first 4 weeks is just a slow progression into the full Rite Of Passage 12 week program, but man, day 1 was brutal, and it was only a total of 22 minutes. So...many...kettlebell swings.
I've just gotta mentally prepare myself for 16 weeks of torture. If I didn't believe in kettlebells so much, I wouldn't do it, but I've seen how effective they can be, and I'm all in for this workout.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I need some OS doctors. Hopped out of my computer chair earlier and kind of jogged to close a door. Immediately felt a stinging pain in my right leg. It went away when I sat down. Was fine the rest of the day and when I went to eat. Went to play basketball and as soon as I took an extended stride it stung again. From my hamstring to upper calf. Only hurt when I tried to move fast. I could stand, walk, and stretch just fine. Any idea what's up? I've never pulled anything so I don't know how that feels.Comment

Sounds like a light hamstring pull. Don't want to stretch that for a while so that it can heal. Also, there is a small chance that you pinched the nerve. My guess is the first one though.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Wife and I are in week 6 of Focus T25 which is the first week of the Beta cycle. It's such an awesome program with legit results. Started day one at 190 lbs, and as of this morning I am down to 179. My goal is 170 at the end of the 10 week program. My wife also lost 5 pounds.
Feels good to get back in the shape I used to be in before I got married and had a kid.
It's a great workout for those of you who have kids. 25 minutes a day which is easy to find time for.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I started a dietary change back in May of this year, here's a little progress from then until now.
I am 5'6" I started at 265 lbs, now hovering around 203 lbs.
I never went to the gym once, and it this is all the result of limiting calories to around 1800-2000, and drinking about a gallon a day of water.Comment

Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I failed what I was trying to do fitness wise and moving kind of got in the way, but I'm still down about 15-20 lbs from the beginning of the year. Fasting FTW. Did not think a few weekends of eating light could do such wonders for my metabolism.Comment
