    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Really gotta stop stepping on the scale every day. Been going at the kettlebell circuit workouts twice a week, along with 2 extra days of high intensity cardio, and finishing the week off with some low intensity sets of bodyweight exercises on Satuday. Noticing a big difference in muscle tone, cardio, and strength, but staying the same weight. Right around 190 lbs.

I know I shouldn't be discouraged, as any muscle gain is likely to blame for the lack of weight loss, but it still bugs me. I'd like to be around 175 in September for the Spartan Beast, but it's been slow going. Another issue is trying to cut back sodium, which i've been trying to counteract by drinking loads of water.

Gotta keep at it though. Definitely seeing a difference in my composition, even if the scale doesn't say so.

I'm right there with you. On one hand I like being able to monitor my weight, however; I've basically stayed the same weight for 6 months now after dropping 50 lbs the previous 9 months. My weight fluctuates as I gain muscle mass and burn fat, but I try to focus more on the way I look, how clothes fit, and waist (etc) measurements. It's tough to accept, but the scale (at this point) isn't the whole story.

Workout challenge! Just saw this vid this morning and tried it and got up the ladder at 7. I'm gonna try this later after I wake up a little. Literally just woke up and tried it and this was after I did a 6 hour yoga challenge yesterday.

Unless you're headed for a boxing/wrestling weight class, you probably need to leave the scale alone all together. People get obsessed with it when it's really a HORRIBLE way to measure progress. It's the easiest and most obvious but still horrible. If you can find a good BMI measure, that would be best, but honestly you shouldn't be doing this to just get to a certain weight. Again, it's good to have a goal and a weight number is an easy goal to set and track but it's misleading. Especially if you're lifting.

Taking a couple day break from working out. Motivation just hasn't been there and working overtime for taxes kills whatever I had to begin with. I'm still eating right just taking a little "vacation" time from working out. Planning to start up a new round of Insanity next week so hopefully I can tone up for by the time warm weather gets here and I start hiking again.

I'm right there with you. We are a few people short, so the work load had to be picked up.

I'm not eating right though...lol. I'll be ok. I just need April 16th to get here.

Get home tomorrow morning for Spring Break. Gonna have to resist all that good Mexican food(live in San Diego), wings, pizza, and all that food my friends like to eat when we hang out.

Power was out last night because of the storm, so i just switched that in as my rest day. Just finished up Kenpo today to wrap up week 1 of P90x. I have an app on my phone that i keep track of all my sets, so my goal for week 2 is to beat all my reps from week 1, and focus on form.

I also need to find a good eating schedule for myself. Undereating has been a problem the first week. I Have only drank water, OJ, and milk throughout week 1. Food is tough for me as I am a picky eater to begin with. Ive been eating a healthy bol of ceral with skim milk in the orning, a protein bar at lunch, a piece of fruit or nutrigrain bar after work. Dinner has been mainly chicken and veggies, and then always end with a clementine before bed.

Just knocked out lifting for the chest and arms. Going to take a break and then go after some cardio in the form of either hip hop abs or URX-MT.

Sorry wanted to do more than yoga that was on the schedule today. Tomorrow is back to P90x and boxing.

Dang it, dang it, dang it. 2013 has just been a miserable year for me thus far from a Fitness standpoint. First Influenza, then Migraines, an accidental Caffeine overdose and Heart palpitations. I was just starting to recover and get into a really solid work out regimen and then get hit with a Stomach Virus.

Have not really worried to weigh myself but after vomiting for an entire morning, and only having an orange, some blueberries, half a yogurt, and some Soup for two days I'm sure I lost a significant amount of weight, and fluids. I feel like the JJ of fitness every time I start to get something going, something catastrophic comes up and just backfires in my face.

I'm officially retiring from working out to rest, and recover my body until I am 100% confident that I am fully recovered physically, and mentally. I think the constant worry about Lifting, and working out has done my body more harm than good lately.

A week later and Ive lost 2 pounds just from diet. Im gonna go pick up a bicycle and use that for cardio. I would run but my shins just take a beating supporting my body when I run for more than a few minutes that and knee problems just mess me up right now. Hopefully the bike can quell some of those issues.

I got discouraged this morning as the scale said I gained 3 pounds, but after taking care of some business in the bathroom tonight it read that I actually lost 2. I didnt realize how heavy that could be. I am considering getting a second scale lol.

Get better my friend. Went through some stomach bug about two weeks ago.

My home scale is digital junk as it fluctuates several pounds each time. I'm doing a two day fast starting tomorrow. Going to make Mondays and Tuesdays fasting days from here on out after reading how this helps the body burn more efficient. Staying under 300 calories each day and then back to normal on Wednesdays.

Measuring success with the scale is a big mistake, IMO.

I'm strongly considering giving the juice diet for the documentary" Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" a try for 10 days. Has anyone else here attempted it?
