    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Someone care to point me in the right direction with healthy meals? Working out isn't so much of a problem for me as it is trying to eat right. Figure once I get back from break I can start over since I'll have to go to the store and I'll try to avoid buying junk food. Some of my Cajun meals I figure aren't that bad it's just a matter of portion control, however other night I'll eat too much junk

What are you looking for? Healthy recipes or just healthy foods to eat in place of junk foods?

That is the Insanity nutrition and recipe guide. Has some good snack recipes in there as well. I use it now more for a guideline as I substitute healthier choices into my favorite meals (ie: whole grain pastas, melba toast instead of chips/crackers, etc).

Severely limit potatoes, pasta, cake, cookies, bread, sugary drinks, and anything else with refined sugar in it.

baked chicken and unsalted turnip greens and green beans for dinner...

I'm trying to keep it healthy. I didn't exactly reach my goal of being down to 213 by today, but I am at 219/220 depending on the time of day and I need to get to 213 before the last week of the month.

I'm going to let it settle and then go to the gym and run for a bit. I'm really missing the motivation I was getting from my girlfriend and she's only been gone to Atlanta for a few days. I've got to dig deep and make it happen, even when she can't help.

I feel like the green tea extract is actually helping me out.

Don't drop the rice. Eat that up (especially brown rice). That's the one thing I eat instead of pasta. I'll make basically the same dish but substitute rice for pasta.

I'm sticking with the green tea extract but am dropping the L-Carnitine. I didn't see a boost outside of normal after taking the L-C for over a month. The stuff costs about $10 a week as well so it's not worth it in my case. Maybe my fat-burning motor is already at max, but for someone else the L-C might be worth a try.

Rice and black beans have been my go-to for lunch for a while. Throw in some salsa or guacamole and put it in a wrap and its a healthy meal without sacrificing taste.

Still can't give up pasta altogether. Though I only eat it about two times a month rather than 2-3 times a week like I used to do two years ago.

After taking a week off from exercising and hitting up Insanity yesterday (fit test in the morning and plyo when I got home) I felt great in an I'm stupid for doing this kind of way.

                        Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Ran 2 miles and walked 2 miles in the park.

I underestimated how cool the air is outside. I thought I was going to cough up a lung a few minutes ago.

I just got home and I'm about to eat a grilled chicken salad.

I'm not a huge fan of salad, but I'm determined to get to my goal ASAP.

I hate to watch the scales every day, but I'm losing for a totally different reason than most. As far my appearance, I don't look overweight at all.

The Navy doesn't give a damn. They're just concerned with what the scales say, even if I pass the BMI test (which I think is also stupid).

Losing another 6-7 lbs in a few weeks is very manageable IMO. I lost 8 in the previous two week window I had. I think it's better to lose it the right way and slow way anyways. It will be easier to keep off. I also ate a few unhealthy meals and had a few long drinking nights in that stretch of two weeks.. shame on me

I called yesterday to check in with the recruiter and made sure he got my faxed in blood pressure chart from my step mom. She had to monitor it for me over the course of three days before I could go back. Luckily they didn't care that she's related. I made it clear that she was an RN and clearly a CPN and could do it without me having to go to a doctor for three days in a row.

Anyways, my blood pressure is back down and I'm dropping .5 to 1 lb every single day. I'll quit ranting now

Interesting, good thing as a lot of the go to meals I know how to cook involve rice.

Also I've heard a lot about Green Tea Extract, but where can I find that? I've never seen it anywhere.

Man, I love salad. But not the prepackaged ****. Or even the stuff restaurants try to pass off as salad (unless its a salad bar then I'm golden). Baby spinach. Chop up some romaine. Throw in tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, celery, peppers, red onions, etc. I like making a big salad (I have 2.5 gallon container I make it in) and eating on it throughout the week. Very few things beat a fresh salad for me.

                              My salad isn't completely healthy.

Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon bits, shredded cheese, a few onion strings, and use a little bit of light Italian dressing.

Don't forget shredded cheese, croutons, bacon bits, and a pound of Ranch Dres.....oh wrong thread.

I just got done eating a can of tuna with mustard and old bay... Little heavy on the sodium but oh well.
