Keep it up, seems people dont start realizing you have lost weight til you have lost around 10% or so. Hope you stick with it

The benefits of FOCUSING on your nutrition are weight loss and overall mortality - what is wrong with that?
Most people like that are just trying to make excuses as to why they arent doing it.

I got the book on amazon kindle for pc as well - so I'm reading right now, excited about all the recipes it mentions.

How have you dealt with nay-sayers, non supporters, etc?

I'm a bit on the fence to playing soccer tomorrow night due to the cleanse, etc - but we'll see.

I have the exact issue. Thus is why I haven't really pushed my goals until the past few weeks. I am motivated on my own as I am feeling better and better as the days go bye. Stick with it my friend as we will get it done!

I play soccer Saturday so I will not eat for a few leading up to it.

Last year when I started my change in diet and workout routine I didn't tell a single person except for my wife. I have a small theory that telling too many people can be detrimental because as soon as you start spreading the news around you instantly get "atta boy!" and "Good for you!" -- but nothing has actually been accomplished. I think (for some people) they get the praise just for trying and it is an example of a false reward before the goal has been achieved.

I loved (still do) when people who haven't seen me in a while say something and ask -- then I'll tell them.

It is important to have another person to hold you accountable, but for me I made her swear to secrecy what I was doing.

I'm also a person with quite a bit of willpower or "mental toughness" -- I attribute that to my football days as a lineman -- so I don't have problems being disciplined or self-motivated. However, I'm still glad I at least told my wife. But I would definitely recommend keeping long-term, hard-working goals to your tight inner circle so that you don't become distracted.

About to hit up a fierce Chest, Triceps split in a few hours.

Was too tired last night coming home from work. So I said instead of doing a lame half effort workout, let me get a good solid night's rest, and really blast it tomorrow on my day off. Glad I made that move as I have really solid energy levels right now.

            Can't wait.

Yeah, it's definitely been a big change for me since I was a linemen in high school and lifting heavy. I was actually supposed to play football here but I just couldn't see myself being able to healthily maintain or gain weight with the lack of nutritional food here and not having my own apartment so I could cook for myself. My dad also is gonna be losing his job most likely due to the post office cuts so I'm better off back home after this semester. Once I drop to the weight I want to be at I plan to bulk up a little and come back after I get the whole money issue sorted. I also have an opportunity to work out with and coach with Jared Allen's dad, who is now coaching at my old high school. So I'm definitely keeping these goals and plans heavily in my mind. I have no doubt that I'll be able to get to the weight I want to be at by the end of the semester.

I think everyones gotta do there part and spread health and fitness. In the last few months I've helped a ton of friends with their diets and workouts. I just got off the phone with one who was a bunch of blood pressure and diabetes meds like I was and he just got the word that he doesn't have to take meds anymore. He called almost crying because he's been battling it for over 10 years.

Its crazy how I'm more happy for him than when it happened for me. When you can inspire someone to be better is one of the most amazing things I've experienced.

Next stop is my mom. Since I'll be moving to the Philippines with her, one of my main objectives is to get her healthy so she can be my mom for much longer. Going to walk almost everyday, do yoga and eat like how she grew up in the Philippines.

Yeah I've been helping my roommate as well. He's extremely out of shape and I told him about how I was able to lose some of the weight just based off of moving to a largely vegetable and fruit based diet and has started eating healthy this week.

Just got done with a really good body weight workout in my Lifetime Wellness class where we do an activity every Thursday. Definitely a good shock to the lower body going from lifting to body weight stuff. He's my instructor for the Circuit Training class I'm taking starting next week as well and said most of the stuff we'll be doing is similar to what we did today. Really can't wait to get going with that class.

I weighed in at 158.5 Sunday and today I was 154.

Do you guys ever have "off days" and say get a burger and fries etc. I was thinking about making Friday those days. But not get a soda with my meal.

Yeah. I usually do some intermittent fasting though every Sunday so it probably doesn't effect me as much persay to cheat a little bit.

I stopped doing it due to the lack of willpower. I would cheat Friday and then felt like crap on Saturday which then turned the weekend into a train wreck. I am not able to do it as I don't have that ability like many here.

Usually, it's meant as a compliment. A lot of time when people talk about their weight issues they are down, depressed, not happy with who they are. Friends want to make them feel better about who they are by telling them it's not as bad as they may think.

I know exactly where you're coming from but you shouldn't let it shake you bc I bet their hearts are in the right place.

Everyone's different but personally, I'd rather pay attention to what I eat all the time. Then you don't need a specific "day" which would drive me crazy. It seems like more work but then if you feel like being bad you can just think about the last time you were and decide if it's a good idea or not. To me, this makes it easier than saying Friday is my day and then having to go to a big dinner party on a Saturday, or out with the boys to watch a game on a Sunday... you can spread it around better.

Weekends can be tough on the weight situation as I tend to relax a little more and don't get around to cranking up my metabolism. Part of the issue is that being in Minnesota I can't really get outside and do much this time of year compared to the warmer months. So I have an idea ...

                              Vegan Weekends?

I'm already high-protein, low-carb but if I started Friday night until Monday and stuck to a vegan selection I'm hoping I wouldn't have as much ground to make up throughout the week in an attempt to get back to equilibrium.

If nothing else, it kinda rhymes and sounds cute. That alone should make it a successful idea.

Don't forget that might effect your choices of beverages over the weekend as well.
