    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

If you have a park close by, hit it up for your cardio.

I got bored with the gym and I absolutely hate tredmills. Ever since I started running in the park, It's been so much more enjoyable. It also helps if you find someone to exercise with. I've been running and swimming with this girl and it's good motivation for both of us.

I just wish the weather was nicer right now.

I tried a few cardio routines I found on YT this morning and they were actually effective.

    My diet today:

    Oatmeal
    Banana
    Tomatoe
    Apple
    Tuna
    Strawberries
    4 individual M&Ms

I felt hungry not long after the oatmeal and my morning workout. I did some of those cardio videos which were difficult considering my legs are sore from running on cement and then 80 pushups and 30 sit ups.

I've also done 30 pushups at work today.

I'm just trying to be active and eat healthy. I'm also hoping the reduction of sodium in my diet will help me cut some of that stored water weight.

I started my reboot/reset yesterday, and quickly failed as I got home for dinner as pot roast tempted me. Felt like crap aftewards and like a failure - but rewatching these movies (especially Fat,Sick and Nearly Dead) has remotivated me.

Back on the "juice" now - cannot wait to give this thing a real try now that I know how I feel after cheating.

      Wish me luck!
Just to follow up on this, I started it Monday - and even though I caved with one meal at dinner that day - as of today, I've lost 4 lbs.

I feel super energetic, awake and just overall really good. No more feeling bloated, headache or in need of coffee every morning (like last week). The toughest thing is being at the parents (Snowed in from our apartment) and my mom's great cooking that my dad, cousin and my preggo wife get to eat, while mom and I are juicing.

Regarding Netflix, after watching the two docs I mentioned - I watched "Forks over Knives" which brought in a lot of scientific and clinical support to the idea of being "plant based". This led me to the Engine2Diet, and man does that food/recipes look incredible. I plan on going that route after this reset/reboot.

Coffee withdrawls are what has been killing me at work this week.

I love everything about coffee, but I'm trying to cut caffeine too and lower my blood pressure a bit naturally.

I'm surprised I've been staying in such a good mood after cutting a lot out. I'll likely cheat on my planned diet a little tomorrow night because I'm going on another date with said girl and I'm not about to order a ****ing salad.

My problem is also curing that hunger pang that comes about 3 every day. In between lunch and dinner.

I hear you there. I've tried answering that with fruit and vegetables, but it seems foods with no fat in it doesn't last long at all.

I've only had a banana today, but I'm about to make a trip for work and I'll probably pick up a turkey wrap or something healthier.

If I manage to shed these 10 lbs in these 18 days I'll be surprised. I have until the 11th. I weighed in at MEPS at 226, but It was early morning on light stomache. I typically weigh around 230 when on the scales at night. I weighed last night at the usual time and I was 226 after a day of eating and such. I hope that means I'm making progress

I started this on November 1st (I know last year but close enough) and as of today 2/5/2013 I have lost a total of 70 pounds......almost 30 this month. I am now at 220 and still want to lose this extra 20 and tone. I think that cutting out the sugar has been the biggest thing that has helped me because I feel like I have so much more energy to work out. Just thought I would share my progress.
Down another 10 as of yesterday afternoon. Only 10 pounds away from my goal

I know salad is the cliche line but I've found that a lot of places these days have some great salads. I'm not on a strict diet but sometimes I just want something lighter, and a place with a good steak salad is usually right on point. Just an idea, you should at least take a look at that part of the menu, lol.

I was at 179 in Aug of last year...I'm about 199 today.

However, I went on vacation to Florida after 179 and came back at 190...it's just recently the parents went on vacation for 1.5months(I've been looking forward to this for a long time), and I have gained 9LBs in their absence. They come back tomorrow and that's when I plan on getting back to it.

The entire time with them not here, I have been the biggest couch potato in the world. I am totally fine with it, because I needed it.

Gonna be hard to give up on the whole lifting big stuff now that I'm doing more high intensity workouts with bodyweight and light weight due to one of the classes I'm enrolled in. But I also have to realize it'll help me attain my goal by the end of the year much easier. I'll just have to get back to the big lifting once I've lost all the excess weight I want to lose. I'm about 6'3 and I'm not sure what a healthy weight is. I'm about 233 or so right now. Lightest I've ever been was about 225 during basketball season last year.

                        Good advise.

I should be a little more open about healthier options when out to dinner.

You'd be surprised. I'm with you, unless I'm really trying to go hard core my concern is good tasting food more than anything else. But there really are some healthier options that taste good too. Keep in mind, they are healthiER, usually not exactly healthy. If you're going strict, eating out can be tough. Even with salads, they usually have some kind of cheese and a heavy dressing. But "cheating" with a little extra dressing won't set you back at all.

Just a suggestion too. If you look at the menu and read the salads while your mind won't stop thinking about the porterhouse, then go ahead and get the steak (maybe get the filet instead). But you can at least see what else is out there. For years I wouldn't even look at that part of a menu.

I try to only eat half of an entree or so. That way I don't overeat and I have leftovers.

Tell them to keep the bread basket away or keep it next to your gf, but it's still a temptation.

And like FT said, ask for the take home box right away and put away half your healthy dinner.

I did something similar the other night, but with the cheese dip.

Out of habit, I ordered a large cheese dip and I pushed it to her side of the table so It wouldn't be close by and I wouldn't eat much of it.
