    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

First day of my Advocare 24-Day Challenge is nearly in the books...
    • The fiber drink goes down a bit rough. It's going to serve its purpose.
    • SPARK is very good and I felt its effects.
    • I became an Advisor, so I invested into this company. I've seen many, many successful people whom I know do this. I am not trying to get rich by any means (few do), but if I can supplement my income, that's what I'll do. Who knows, maybe I'll be one of those success stories that quits their jobs and focuses on this full-time. It's a risk; but a minimal one, they stand behind their products and their Sci-Board is highly touted.
    • It might just be mental, but I am feeling better today. Taking these products and following their nutrition plan is going to be a big shock to my system as I've never been someone who has ate real healthy - even though I thought I was, I really wasn't.

    6'5"
    255
...and the rest of the measurements are not good.

I'll let you guys know how it's going. Not stepping on the scale for another 23 days...

Finally got better, enough to work out. Got my 2nd workout of the year in last night.

Your home gym looks pretty cool, from the pictures I have seen.

Fluxing between 351 and 54 right now.

Still hoping that I can cut enough weight that I feel comfortable going 3 rounds, throwing over 100 punches a round.

Obviously, that's not what I'll do in a real match, but that's what I want to feel comfortable doing.

I've only worked out once in the past week due to being sick. Hopefully it finally passes tomorrow, I'm itching to get back out there. I hate missing workouts.

Try working out while watching football. Whenever there is a commercial go down and do push ups or sit ups. Last week I held the plank position for the entire break a couple times.

I keep dumbbells around myself and do forearm workouts.

Good advice right here. Good way to keep active and make even sedentary days meaningful toward your goals.

I did back one sunday during my teams game. I put up a PR on my deadlift. I turned the anger I got from a bad play or bad call into energy.

On another note what is everybodies feelings on only working out on the weekends? I've never done it, but I'm finding it next to impossible to get into the gym on weeknights. I have very little time with my family during the week as it is and I start feeling guilty about being in the garage working out as opposed to being with them. Mornings aren't an option either, I've tried that before and it doesn't work at all for me.

Yeah I totally understand the time taken away from family to workout. My buddy went through the same thing but he found working out with the family was very beneficial. Playing basketball, going for walks, going to the park or riding bikes. As I say this, I gotta say the most memorable times I had with my dad is when I played basketball and rode bikes with him.

Lets say you go out the park and play catch, do some sprints in the middle, get the heart rate up. Get some push ups in there too. Its quick and your getting resistance training. I do pushups ALL THE TIME. I do them random places; the kitchen, living room, at work. I remember watching Herschel Walkers documentary and he would do 5000 pushups a day in front of the tv.

That's nuts but at least you can watch tv with family and workout at the same time.

I think weekends is ok at least your working out. I would try to add at least 1 or 2 days in the week if you can if none of the above works out for you.

I can't wait until my daughter gets a little older (she's 2) and can ride a bike and do some of the other stuff you mentioned. That'll be good times for sure.

I do like the idea of working out on the weekend and 2 other days during the week, maybe a tues/thurs/sat/sun split. I think I can pull that off without feeling guilty. Good thing about that split is that I usually eat more calories on the weekends anyway because that's the only time we eat out. Thanks for the idea!

Oh yeah that's definitely tough with a young daughter, I was assuming your kid was older for some reason. I was going to suggest what you just mentioned, Tues/Thurs and then weekends. Your right you want to workout on the days you consume the most calories.

Are you using anything to keep track of your calorie intake? I can't say how awesome MyFitnessPal app has worked for me.

Right now I'm not counting calories, I'm just making sure to eat healthy balanced meals. When my weightloss slows down I most likely will start keeping track of them again.

It's funny, I checked and I do have that app but it got deleted. It shows up on my "purchased apps" in the app store. I'll have to re-install it and start using it again.

                                Turrible workout last night.

The vibe in the gym was awful with these two dudes and a couple who wouldn't quit fighting with each other + the distraction of the Pats/Ravens game.

I'll make up for it tonight, when I hit it with one of my buddys. He's great about pushing me to do weight I normally can't do.

This will be Day 1 of weaning myself off of pre workout supplements. It's going to be rough, but some of my plans for the future will require me to be in good physical shape, but not use any sort of supplement.

I'm also about to pick up my cardio immensely. It's something else that's important for my future plans.
