    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I normally go to the gym off peak hours: 2:00 in the afternoon for "lunch", and then at around 9:30 when I go to Fitness Connection with my 12 year old. I didn't go today, but I'm thinking I won't have to worry about the resolution crowd too much. I will be going to the gym on the weekends now that I'm starting a new six day split. I got a feeling I might run into them then, even if I go at around hour and a half before closing. Nothing against them, I just hate working out in a crowded gym.

      Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Today was my first time going during the daylight hours, in a few weeks.

It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and a lot of the cars outside just reflected the amount of people doing Zumba and the Cycling classes.

The gym is even picking up water aerobics. I have no interest, but I think it's cool how they offer such a variety of classes for everyone's interest. They even have a problem called "silver sneakers" for senior citizens.

It's a little more expensive than my other gym, but $40 a month unlocks the entire gym and amenities to me. I'm not big on the steam room, tanning, massages(sp?) , pool, or sauna at a gym, but it's nice to know it's there if I wanted it.

There were some really jacked up dudes at my last gym and it became frustrating to try to work around them or share equipment. They would monopolize every damn thing and I decided I was tired of dealing with it.

The people at this gym have all been easy to work out with and they are more than willing to split reps on machines or with free weights and such. It's better not to have to work around people, when you can work out with them comfortably. It seems everyone I've ran into from my old gym feels the same way about it too.

This older lady got a little pissed at someone for turning on the radio, while she was doing cardio. She couldn't hear Andy Griffith over the music and she didn't take too kindly to that. She guy explained, "We only turn the volume up to 14 and there's a bunch of us out here on the floor who would like to listen to music".

I sort of got where she was coming from, but she couldn't really expect to hold the whole gym hostage over her TV show. Just read the subtitles or turn the volume up.. lol.

Anyways, enough of that spill... I'm just really excited about this new gym and my new found energy and excitement to work out. Hopefully I'm able to build on the foundation I set last year.

Can't lift for a little while. I did something to my chest but have no clue what, never felt a tweak or anything pop. I thought it was from my bronchitis but noticed it only hurt when I moved certain ways. Whatever it is it's taking a long time to heal (been about 2 weeks). It's hell getting old.

          29 years old
          6'5"
          426 lbs.

Just in this year I want to drop 65 lbs. My overall goal weight is in the 275 - 295 lb. range. Dr. says @ 300 lbs. I'd be fit!

My brother joined a gym to get in better shape as he is trying to become a CO. After taxes come back, I plan to join, that and the resolution folks should be cleared out by the end of the month.

I know my problems... desk job and no physical activity. I've started walking during breaks (total of about 30 mins.) and back is already feeling better.

I was down in the 260 range over the summer but the holidays and an injury for 2-3 months got to me. I was around 360 about 2 years ago now..

I have been jogging/running a 5k almost every weekday lately and plan to continue doing so. Although, I might try Insanity.

I don't think I am fit enough to do Insanity properly, but I have no idea. I guess I'll do the fit test and see where I am at..

Seems like I was just here...

              6'6" 250 pounds...

2012 was a good year, I got down to 235, which is a very good weight for me... I put an easy 15 on this holiday season, but really want to work my butt off and find that 225 pound range...

              • Stricter diet
              • More exercise
              • More basketball

I'll be down to 240 by the summer just because that's what I always do, but 240 isn't acceptable because I've seen my body there and it's flat out not good enough. I want 225.

250 is not a 'horrible' weight for me, but it's not a 'good' weight either. I'll post pics when I get there.

I failed the P90x fit test miserably but did it anyway and it doesn't matter. Do what you can with the program and call it good. I lost 22 pounds in four weeks on P90x before my I hurt my back.

Don't let the fit test discourage you, even if you have to start slow.

Alright, thanks. I think I'll just go ahead and make sure my form is good before trying to hit some number as well.

I know some will try and pull my man card, but Zumba is excellent..............plus there are a lot of hot chicks that take the classes. Thank you God for spandex

My old job is why I shot up to 400lbs two years ago.

Sitting in front of a desk 9 hours a day, getting home at 10:30 and just sitting some more because, well.. it's 10 ****ing 30 and there's nothing to do.

Doing that for 2-years absolutely killed whatever shape I was in, which was good shape. Between 280-320lbs, I feel great.

Just finished watching Hungry for Change on netflix. I recommend you guys watch it before you start shopping for food.

Its stuff that's been said in other movies but its a great reminder to eat natural and stop eating processed foods and sugar products.

I'm one who will not change his diet for the sake of losing weight.

The word "diet" isn't even in my vocabulary.

It's not dieting, its eating right and the way nature has attended us to eat.

I agree don't do it for the sake of weight loss or else it won't stick in my opinion. Would you think about it to make you better, stronger and more efficient in boxing?

Diet is about 80% of what needs to change in order to lose weight. You don't necessarily need to change what you eat, but you need to make sure you are in a caloric deficit in order to lose weight.
