Okay, well you keep reading those ancient chiseled stone manuscripts, and relying on incalculable formulas to tell you the end all be all of training your body, old wise one.

The word banned has a set definition too. By the looks of it, you'll be learning that one as well.

I got frustrated because I was stuck at 215 for a few weeks even though I was working my *** off and then I started losing a pound or two every few days.

I only ate unhealthy when going on dates and the occasional weekend meal and it didn't hurt me at all. If you don't eat something you really want from time to time, you may splurge when you finally do break down and eat it.

So yeah.. I think you got it right.
Thanks. What all are you doing differently since you said our situations are different?

I was referring to the reason for losing.

Mine was a requirement and you are doing it to be healthier.

At the end fo the day, we're all still trying to be healthier I guess.

Some of the responses you initiated are the only reason this post didn't get you banned (don't feed the trolls people). It was half joking but, as mentioned, this is NOT a weight lifting thread. More specifically, this is not the thread you're looking for. Judging from this post this may not even be the website you're looking for. Either way, another similar post and we will make the decision on that last question for you.

I don't know if I am going about this all the right way. I am using the Weight Watchers point system, and I am working with a trainer, and I have seen results. I am sure there are things I could do better, but I have cut out soda and sweets - (although I have had a sweet tea or two) and I have cutback on fried food. I think it's okay if every now and then I treat my self. This Sunday if I feel like getting some fajita burritos or want a burger tomorrow for lunch, it's okay as long as I don't eat it all the time, get the super size meal, a soda and a dessert with it. If I still drink water, use portion control, I should still be able to enjoy foods that I like, correct?

Like I said before, there just seems to be so much information out there, some pull you one way, while the next article I read pulls me the opposite way. I also know, what works for one person may not work for me.
Dook what I think is most important is that you do whatever makes you comfortable with your change. That's a big reason diets are bad. Quick fixes never work, you need to change your life... and you can only do that if you're comfortable changing your life. So do what is in your comfort zone. After some time, evaluate the results and then re-establish how far you want to push that comfort zone based on how happy you are with what you see over that period of time. Set goals and continue to monitor things. You are doing great knowing what you're putting into your body which is the most important. I think you'll find that the longer you stick with it, the more okay you'll be with cutting fried foods and sugars, running a bit more than you had planned, etc. But you sound like you have a good pace now so roll with it.

Agreed wwharton. I think you're on the right track Dook. Drastic life changes rarely work out unless you're left with no other options (usually an illness). Gradual progress will lead to better and longer-lasting results and I assume that you want to keep the weight off. It's not easy to change eating habits that can be 20+ years in the making but by just realizing that you want to make that change is a step in the right direction.

Thanks! So far so good. But I was curious if it was okay to grab a burger once a week or something.

Yeah, there's no need to like... just go vegan all of a sudden (or at all.)

Eat a burger now and then. It's not gonna kill you. Though, I will say, I have almost fully converted to buffalo burgers. It's delicious. I can't easily get deer out here like I can back in WI so most of my meat intake is chicken and buffalo.

Absolutely. If you're conscious of what you're eating you'll know if you "cheated" a few too many times recently and dial it back a bit. Also, I'll try subbing things here and there to see if I can just do it permanently. For example, in most cases I can do brown rice over white rice without even caring... this is even more likely with wheat bread vs white. I've tried going with avocado on sandwiches instead of mayo. Not gonna work for me on a regular basis but now I know. An avocado on a burger every now and then is good though.

There may be some "healthy" alternatives that you just actually like and didn't consider before. So when you want a burger, get a burger... but see if you can do it with a whole wheat bun or without cheese... maybe sweet potato fries instead of regular. If you can't, screw it, do it like you like it. Just be conscious of it.

Yeah, today I went to my favorite Mexican place and got beef fajita burritos (just the meat) with rice and beans and I felt a but guilty and disgusted with myself for eating that.

I'm fine with subbing stuff. First time I drank something other than water in about 10 days. Had unsweet tea with Splenda and fresh lime juice. I ate wheat toast instead of white with peanut butter before a work out yesterday.

I went to Qdoba last night to pick up some food for me and the Mrs.

I ordered a naked burrito with brown rice. So glad they now offer brown rice.

By the way, I can now eat at Wendy's for 600 calories.

The new grilled mustard grilled chicken flatbread with a small chilli. I put onions and cheese on the chilli.

                      Good stuff and healthy.

Under 600 calories you say? Might have to try that.

Got over roasted chicken breast on flatbread at Subway yesterday, may be my favorite sandwich now.

Isn't it best to try and cut out breads and pastas though?

What is the best bread at Subway? I looked up nutritional facts and they all seem about the same.

Day 40 of Insanity is done with. Month 2 is still kicking my *** pretty bad but I'm completing it in a puddle of sweat. I've had to eat a bit more this week than the first month but the scale is still moving in the right direction for me.

Knee surgery has killed my right upper leg as I've lost 7-8 inches.

I have eaten relatively clean and lifted pretty hard and done whatever abs I can. I want to go into the street and just sprint...instead I can barely walk and have to up/down steps like an 80 yr old.

Yeah, I tried that Wendy's combo and without onions and cheese, it was 590 calories. The Honey Mustard has 380 calories and the Asiago Chicken Ranch has well over 500 calories. Both of them are made of multigrain flatbread.

Subway, I alwasy go for the whole wheat bread. I think they have a 9 whole wheat honey bread that I always order.

Whole grain is better than white bread because it's a better filler and is slower to enter into your system.

As far as the breads and pastas go, stay away from the white flour breads and pastas.

Brown rice, whole wheat pasta is much better for you vs regular rice and pasta. And of course, the motto still for any kind of pasta, moderation. A 1/2 cooked brown rice should be sufficient for a few nights/days per week.

If you are going to go with Pasta, try to use 100% whole wheat and if you use sauce try to go light on the sauce and don't add any butter or cheese or any of that junk that's just excess calories.

As far as breads go and other carbs the key is to stay away from white food items. Such as pasta, white bread, rice, starches(potatoes, carrots, and pretty much anything grown underground). Go with whole wheat or multigrain. Although, if you are one of those guys who likes to eat a baked potato with his steak/chicken/salmon, try to either remove it or sub it out for a sweet potato.

Also try to add fresh spinach leaves or parsley on your meat as it not only looks nice but is great for you. Spinach is highly rich in vitamins.

Stay away from fast food places too.
