I drink Scivation Xtend when I workout because it's *calorie free* and tastes awesome. Watermelon is very good. It's about the same price as drinking a vitamin water or something. I just like Xtend.

Accomplished the first day of the 4 day split. Took me about 50 minutes to get through the leg exercises.

        Today, is back and arms.

Also did about 30 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minute warm-up plus 22 minutes after leg workout. Already, 15 minute walk outside as it's a beautiful day here.

Yeah that is definitely key, I lost about 15lbs during fall semester just eating healthier. Fell off doing that in the Spring semester as I just got so busy so I settled on the quick frozen pizzas, etc. I just gotta stick with eating healthy and the cardio, should be good to go by the end of the summer if I can stick with it (Just need to burn some fat in stomach as the rest of my body is in pretty good shape, probably all the beer lol)

Will check out the Xtend soon as calorie free sounds good.

I should change my "cheat" day to Thursday, because I will workout that evening and burn most of it off? Am I totally wrong with this way of thinking?
I think cheat days are a terrible premise to begin with. You should be able to fit moderate amounts of foods you enjoy into your calorie/macro intake every day. Regardless of your goals you can do this. Whether your goal is lose 30lbs, or if you're trying to get to 5% bodyfat and step on stage. The top natural bodybuilders do this (Alberto Nunez, Layne Norton, Matt Ogus, Eric Helm), and personally I have been single digit body fat eating a half pint of ice cream a day while still performing at a high level on the platform.

I would suggest cutting out the cheat day, and spreading that food out through the week. Learn how to track calories, learn how to track macro nutrients, and eat some things you enjoy. There is no such thing as eating "clean", or "clean" foods.

I don't think it matters one way or the other, the biggest thing I could imagine with having a cheat item every day would be self control. Just like how you named some bodybuilders, there are examples of those who have cheat days(Go look at some of the cheat meals The Rock posts on twitter, my god)

I said natural bodybuilders. Things are much different for people on drugs. If you ever saw what the pro IFBB guys actually ate you would be amazed.

Comparing what people on drugs do, to what people not on drugs do is silly.

People who flexible diet.. IE fit foods they like into their daily macros.. are infinitely more successful than any other type of dieter. This has been proven in research numerous times. It's honestly a pretty simple thing. Get your protein, get your fiber and the rest can moved around how you want or how it works best for you. You will need to eat whole foods for the most part, but you will have room for ice cream, or pop tarts or whatever you want.

Here is a good video of Layne Norton (nutritional science PHD, professional natural bodybuilder, professional powerlifter) talking about this a little bit.

Do you get that jittery pre workout feel and post workout crash with Xtend? I've thought about using it, as i'm trying to drop another 15 or so pounds while keeping up with some pretty intense circuit style cardio and kettlebell workouts. I've heard good things about Xtend, but I hate dropping that much money on pre workouts without someone I know giving them a shot.

Anyways, i've been doing really well with the weight loss and general conditioning while preparing for the Spartan Beast in September. Started the year at around 205 lbs, and down to 180 now, which isn't terrible for being 5'11, but i'd like to be around 165-170. My love handles have all but disappeared, which has opened up my wardrobe to all of those clothes I bought but shrunk a year or two ago. Now they fit, so no need to shop for new clothes. I do need new pants however. My jeans are crazy loose around my waist. Definitely a good feeling.

The biggest thing for me was tracking my calories on MyFitnessPal. Prior to that, I was having too much sodium and too many carbs. Now that i'm tracking, i've found some much better foods, and I think i'm finally at that point where I have my diet down for good. I can also say that when I eat some really junky food for a "cheat" snack or meal, the regret really hits me when I track the calories as opposed to not tracking it. It's kept me at bay as far as eating healthy goes.

Xtend is just BCAA's and glutamine. No caffeine and is not anything to get you going. It's more of something I like the taste of and I feel like it helps me recover.
