    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Been thinking about giving Scivation Xtend a shot for a preworkout. Has anyone tried it before? I don't do a normal weightlifting routine. It would be before kettlebell routines and also before some straightforward high intensity cardio. I've heard some people use it before cardio workouts with good results.

As of now, i'm just taking a caffeine pill along with some carbs before working out, and while it's working, I wouldn't mind pushing my workouts to the next level.

Eating healthy is so confusing - So My wife went to the store and bought me peanut butter, but she bought reduced fat Jif, even though I asked her not to get reduced fat ( I read there is more sugars in it?). On my "weight watchers app" (Not Weight Watchers, but using same point scale) it says two tbsp of Jif reduced fat peanut butter is 5 points. The regular Jif peanut butter is also 5 points. Most name brand peanut butters I scanned came up between 5-6 points per 2 tbsp. So, I check the Health section at the store and they have the all natural peanut butter and that is 6 points! So the Jif reduced fat peanut butter is less points than the all natural? Aaahhh!!!!!

So here is where I am confused - I need to cut back to lose weight, but I need to have a lot of carbs before a workout to burn more fat - So at lunch should I eat more than one I have been eating so I will be fueled when I workout, or a late afternoon snack with carbs will be good enough? I dunno too much!
PB is fine. I would go with a natural one though as they tend to have less sugar/additives.

I would actually suggest CUTTING carbs rather then increasing them (while on a cut at least). Try a diet with an emphasis on protein/healthy fat with a carb reload one day a week. Something like 40p/40f/20c for your daily. Adjust as you see fit.

A banana and a pre-workout(mix with water, not milk) shake 30-60min before hand are fine (even with the above).

Natural peanut butter does not have hydrogenated oils. Get that.

If you're really concerned about getting healthy and staying that way, then you have to be very concerned about what you're putting into your body. This means not only avoiding fast foods and other known junk foods, but it means that you have to be very aware of one of the worst of the more than 6000 chemicals that are added to foods today. Most of these chemicals have negative side effects and a number of them are known health destroyers. One of the worst of these is hydrogenated oils.

All processed chemicals that are used in foods have seriously detrimental effects on human health and energy levels and have no place in the modern human diet.

Yeah, the thought about PB not being healthy is a myth.

It has a ton of nutrition, including Potassium, Vitamin B and E and has mono saturated fat which the body needs.

It also is a great source of protein and fiber and keeps you full for longer which will aid in minimizing snacking cravings which can aid in weight loss.

Should I just go to the store and pick my own nuts and make my peanut butter there? Just roasted nuts and that's it?

I mean, you can make it if you want lol and at least you'll know what is going in it.

I've never made my own Peanut Butter personally, so I wouldn't be able to give you guidance on that.

The Smuckers Natural is a solid choice that I enjoy.

I made my own almond butter once. A little bit of olive oil and a bunch of almonds. It had very little taste, but at the same time wasn't bad either.

Fear mongering? How so? I'm just saying to avoid hydrogenated oils. How's that any different than any other advice in here?

Why avoid them? I was mostly referring to your article, but I could quote that part because I'm new.

For me the usual time is about 45 mins to 1 hour 20 mins depending on what day of the week it is.

I'm currently on a program designed by Jim Stoppani that calls for a minute of cardio in between each set. That can get lengthy, then add on that I do three sets of abs after all that 4 times a week, I can easily be there close to 1 hour 20 mins.

Any longer at the gym and you're basically just wasting time. I was there yesterday actually, and came in the same time as this other guy. I was done in an hour, while his hour was spent meandering around the weight area, flexing and fixing his hat in the mirror like a doucher, while getting all of two workouts done. You big stud you.
Why? I workout from and hour and a half to 2 and a half hours. I'm a fairly decent level powerlifter. I can rattle off numerous elite level lifters who would disagree with you.
