Abs aren't about crunches, abs are all about cardio. Shedding the fat because the muscle is under all of the fat on the stomach - also why you see skinny people abs. If they worked out for it they would see much greater gains them someone with more weight around the stomach (visible ab gains, anyways.)

Dookie, I'd suggest DDP yoga with red hot core added on as a good ab workout. The added benefit of doing it whenever from your home is just icing on the cake.

Yeah I have gotten down to 200 pounds from 225. I still got a little gut and thought maybe focusing on my abs in workout would help. All I been doing lately is basketball/tennis.

          Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

It does help, of course because the muscles themselves will get bigger - but the main component to having abs is cardio like I've said.

Look at the people in the strongman competition type things. I guarantee their abs are bigger and stronger than any bodybuilders, it's just that their focus isn't on cutting the fat that covers the abs.

They're focus is straight bear mode. So yeah... cardio + ab workout.

For what it's worth when I feel like focusing on abs, these are the 3 I do (normally one of the top two + the red hot core.)

              Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Spent the last 3 days trying out those P90X workouts. I knew I was in pretty bad shape, but damn! I have so much more respect for people that have completed it. They really aren't a joke for the average person. I lift weights 2-3 times a week at least, but I was more sore after that chest/back workout that I have been in a loooooong time. My back is still sore and I did that workout on Friday!

I might stick with it and do it for at least a month or so. I think I can burn the fat covering my abs and build a nice strength foundation while also getting into better shape using it. It seems like it would make strength training so much easier thanks to all the endurance you build.

I got pharm assault and have been off of it for a week now since I"m working out in the morning and don't need the rush of energy. Should I get some BCAA and creatine to supplement? and i'm guessing i shouldnt use all 3 at once right?

I always do planks and leg raises. I also heard that planks are the best and if u could do over a min you have a pretty good core.

For abs I end every single workout with a plank for 2 minutes straight. If I was only doing core I used to do a 1 plank minute with my left arm up then my right arm up then right leg, then left leg so 4 minutes straight, but I haven't done that in a couple of months

If you want to see more "abs" then you gotta lean up and Insanity has been magical for me in that department. My muscles are leaner, but there's a lot more definition everywhere.

Well they all have different uses, so taking one doesn't really have anything to do with taking the others.

The only thing I'd say is many pre's have BCAA's and/or creatine in them but usually in amounts less than what I'd consider optimal if you were just taking those things separately.

Anyone take the now famous deer antler spray. A kid I play ball with that has chronic knee problems said he started taking it a few weeks ago and it's been like a miracle drug. I don't know if it'll make you bigger/stronger, but if it alleviates knee/back pain I'm in.
