Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore were funnier, but Wedding Singer can easily be argued as the best. Depends on the type of movie you want I'd think

Give me Waterboy for favourite Sandler movie. I guess it being my favourite means I think it's the best? I dunno.

I never think of things that way.

Take tbread28, for example. His favorite team is the Reds, but surely he can't possibly think they're also the best amirite.

You are right though...Favorite doesn't always mean best. Like Super Troopers is one of my favorite movies, but it's far from the best movie at anything. It just makes me laugh.

Waterboy was really good too. That era of 3-5 movies was really solid and then he went downhill.

Yeah there was a solid 5 movie stretch with Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Wedding Singer, Waterboy, and Big Daddy

I'm fine to watch any of them if boredom strikes and they happen to be on

Sandler had a couple of good stretches. After the one you mention he had Punch-Drunk Love, Mr. Deeds (I think it's pretty funny), Anger Management, 50 First Dates, Spanglish, Click, Reign Over Me, and Chuck and Larry over a 5 year period.

Good call, and Reign Over Me was a rare instance of a goofball comedian guy actually putting together a solid serious acting role, I'm not sure how many people have seen that one, but he legitimately held his own

Which is more common, personality-wise, style or substance? I kinda feel like it's style over substance, form over function. Myself, give me substance.

May not be uncommon nationally, but it is for the area I live (Southern Indiana/Louisville, KY area)

                    I HATE THE KENTUCKY DERBY!!!!

I cannot wait for it to be over with.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Good point, and I'd say that this was the beginning of the end...not as good as that last period, but decent PG or PG-13 fare as he was toning his movies down. After all these he just ended up kinda diluted, or a caricature of himself.

I might feel different if I lived there, because it only eats up about an hour of my year. If the derby winner doesn't win the second leg, I don't bother to watch the 3rd leg of the triple crown. Hard to believe but 85 years ago baseball boxing and horse racing were the big 3 of American sports.

Yeah...I'm this way as well, but if I lived nearby I could imagine it being really annoying.

I tuned in for the 30 minutes or so of the race/around it and that was fun. I'll catch the Preakness to see if Justify can win, but otherwise I don't care.

I spent the last several days with Led Zeppelin's first album in heavy rotation on my work commute, & it reminded me of an old opinion I used to hold, though I changed that opinion years ago: Robert Plant's vocal stylings used to grate on me so bad I couldn't stand it. Which was a shame because Jimmy Page, John Bonham & John Paul Jones were always immediately wonderful. I guess Plant is an acquired taste. I probably listened to Zeppelin for 10 plus years before I eventually grew accustomed to Plant. I sometimes wonder if Zep would have been as successful with Steve Winwood in Plant's stead.

My wife and I are at odds over Adam Sandler movies. All the ones I like she thinks are kind of meh and same with me for the ones she likes.

My wife loves Billy Madison, she knows so many quotes from it but I just never found it that funny. There are parts that I like but nothing like Wedding Singer, Water Boy, or Happy Gilmore. I also really liked 50 First Dates and she hates it. Lol!
