It was always a necessity for me at the time because they had a preference of ensuring 60 FPS, and they always had a Legacy stick control scheme option. Other games didn't have it at the time, but I don't know if they have them now.

It's fun for me because I'm not that good at it and I just like playing, shooting, throwing grenades, respawning, and having OS on the side or watching a baseball game all the meanwhile. It's something I can turn my mind off to.

I don't really have a need for "the next COD game," though. I can play the oldest one and still have the same fun. Clearly there are two/three different versions of the game though (past, present, future), so that is the only difference for me really.

They aren't my favorite games at all and I don't buy a lot of them. I have:

COD (original)
MW2
MW3
AW

Now I have BO3 because it was free. Aaaand, that's it.

I never prestige or buy any DLC or do things with crates or whatever the heck those are. If I have a K/D of 0.70, I'm feeling great.

I really enjoy Kill Confirmed mode, though. Keeps people getting out in the open and not camping.

It's not so much that feels like the same thing every year, I think it's more like it IS the same thing every year.

Basically lol. I mean it is fun sometimes. But they haven't done anything truly groundbreaking with that game in years.

Back in the Xbox 360 days it was more to play with friends. The game was less important than having something a bunch of us could do together. Now I only pick up COD/Battlefield if it looks interesting to me.

Yea that's what I always enjoyed. Back when MW2 came out I worked with a few guys and couple iT guys that were friends of the store that also played and that was the best. Just cutting up, talking trash, and just having fun a few nights a week.

I did have fun on BO3 for a short time but The Taken King came out for Destiny 1 and don't think I've touched a COD since.

Apparently uncommon opinion: I really don't like "Fortnite".

I mean, my experience with the game is that I run around for 15-20 minutes, collect wood or something for some reason that is not obvious to me, then as soon as I see other players, I get shot down and then I'm back in the lobby. Repeat.

You know how many other players I've killed in my handful of times with the game? Zero. I've killed zero other players in all the times I've played. Yes, a big part of it is that I suck hardcore at the game. Guilty as charged there. But I'm not new to gaming and any other game I've ever played, I can at least do okay eventually. I just don't understand the core concept of the collecting/building combined with the shooting, and the fact that it's arcade-y without allowing you to respawn just doesn't seem to jive with me.

I much prefer "PUBG". To me, PUBG is a vastly superior experience. I get that game. It's straightforward - drop in, scrounge gear, kill others. It took me about 5 minutes to get my first kill in that game. It's not that it's easier per se, but the gameflow or 'rhythm' of the game just makes more sense to me. It also seems to reward being careful and semi-realistic (for a videogame, anyway) tactics like laying prone in the high grass, steadying your aim by looking down the sites, checking corners, etc. For me, PUBG is a much more fun game than Fortnite.

Although bringing it around to the above conversation, I really like "Call of Duty". I haven't played one since "Black Ops", but when I was playing those games, I liked them a lot. They're arcade-y and super-fast-paced, but for someone like me that kinda sucks at FPS games, you can still have fun in those games because no matter how many times you get shot down, you just keep re-spawning and you have another chance. I'm someone that learns by high-volume repetition, so for me that high-speed/volume feedback loop works well. It's fun to be able to get kills. Even if my K: D ratio is so low you need scientific notation to accurately represent it, I can still have fun getting a handful of kills and occasionally getting hot, even if in general I stink at the game. I can also help my team in different ways by occupying a flag in the objective-based games, etc.


Anyway, TL;DR: COD > PUBG > Fortnite

Yea I don't get the hype about fortnite either. Playing it for a while one day. Never played it again.

It's a waste of time. It's like a pick-up basketball game between D1 athletes where you're the only one that has never played basketball before.

I have watched people play, but it doesn't appeal to me at all, so i have never desired to try. Definitely not my type of game. Of course, i am noticing a trend with me... Offline Franchises, Campaign-mode only games... I think i need a Tshirt that says "Doesn't Play Well with Others"...

reminded me of a car windshield decal that made me double take the other day


I saw "PROSTITUTE" on the top of the windshield and nearly choked lol


on second view it was "FROSTBITE" and I have no idea what that means as a decal but it's gotta be way better than the alternative
